Goods movement 261 and 262

Hi experts,

I have a question regarding goods movement 261 and 262.

261

I go to MB1A screen and type the order number. I enter the names and necessary numbers of raw materials to be sent to the shop floor and execute the transfer. The corresponding amount of material in the storage gets deducted but, when I check the “quantity withdrawn” column in Production order-Component overview, it shows 0.

Why does the software allow such an execution when things work right in the following way?

But in the MB1A screen, if I just type the order number and click on “to order”, a new window shows up in which I again type the order number. Now, it automatically shows the required raw material and the required quantity. When I execute the transfer, the corresponding amount of material in the storage gets deducted and “quantity withdrawn” gets updated accordingly.

262

In the MB1A screen, I give the order number and I am able to reverse any amount of material from the shop floor to the storage location. For example, the actual quantity of a material sent from the storage to shop floor is 100 pieces. I randomly typed 1000 pieces to be reverted and now the MD04 (MMBE CO09) screen reflects this new addition to storage although not more than 100 pieces can be reverted.

Once again, why does the software allow such an execution when things work right in the following way?

I type the order number and in the menu, I choose Goods issue -> Cancel with reference -> To order. In the new window, I again type the order number and in this case, the software allows a particular amount of material to be reverted only if it was already sent before from the store to the shop floor. In this case, as expected even the “quantity withdrawn” column shows 0 after the reversal.

I have one more issue. I would prefer to avoid opening a separate thread. The quantity in MMBE always shows the actual stock multiplied by 1000. (In MD04 and CO09, this issue is not present) Why does it happen?

Thank you very much for your time.

Hi Atisivan,

In SAP there is planned material movement and there in unplanned material movement. System allowes any number of movement when you do unplanned goods Movement. this may be to provide for stock adjustment during stock count. but when you click on reference order. then system checks the reservation against the order and will do only planned goods movement.

If you still have above production order in system you can check the documented goods movement for each posting you have done. and you will see that the 1000 posting what you did will be considered in unplanned posting.

however, it is advised always to use with reference to while you are doing a goods issue or reversal.

Hi,

Suraj and Rupesh explained it well. The production order number you have entered for goods movements without reference (unplanned goods movements) works as cost object only leading to updated costs for this production order.

Hi Sethuraman,

This is as per the standard SAP system design,  Unplanned goods issue is not updating the reservation.

The goods movement should update the withdraw quantity in order make sure data is NOT posted as unplanned goods issue.

In transaction MB1A press button 'To order' OR 'To reservation'

Goods withdrawals are only updated in field 'Quantity withdrawn' if they are posted with reference to the respective reservation. Unplanned withdrawals have no reference to a reservation, even if these are materials which are contained in the order as components.
