Update of Batch Characteristics from Inspection Characteristics

Former Member

Hi,

When I create a Master Inspection Characteristic via QS21, I can put in an existing Class characteristic as a link. Results from Quality Insp. should then update the batch charateristic for my material. However, this does not happen.

Please advice.

Ahmed Rouby

I think the issue might be that the batch char has got  "Multiple values" indicator. Try setting the batch char to Single value instead.

At what point do you check the batch char for values? Straight after you record results or after you make UD for the inspection lot?

at both.

Hi Ahmed,

From the screens shared you are using class characteristics with 'CHAR' format. Can you check

Summ. recording control indicator is checked.

In the inspection lot the characteristic shows a status of 5 right?

And the UD was made successfully right?

Can you display the batch class characteristics you used?

Are there any entries in the UD logs?

As a trouble shooting mechanism, add the characteristic LOBM_UDCODE to your batch class.  Does that get updated when you make the UD?

Ahmed,

LOBM_UDCODE is the standard characteristic which represents the Usage decision. Craig sir has asked you to assign this to the material class and make a UD. If you get this UD value in the batch master, then there is nothing wrong in the system.

Now coming to you issue.

  • You settings with the linkage part seems correct to me. Since you have created this MIC and at the same time, class characteristic was assigned, so I believe there is no difference in the catalogs.
  • Still, you can refer this document to follow the settings required.
  • Characteristic, which is linked with the MIC,  should be assigned to the material batch class.
  • Configuration setting is also correctly maintained. You have confirmed that.

Any value of the MIC would update the respective characteristic only after following conditions are met.

  • Results are locked and valuated. i.e status should get changed to 5.
  • Usage decision should be made & stock posting should be completed.

Inspection results do not transfer if only result recording is done. Do the RR/UD and stock posting and then check in the batch master, you would get updated results.

Besides, I'm not sure of following two settings but they also affect the process: I would love to get the reason & settings for both of them.

  • If the stock posting is not done (no matter if RR and UD are done), results do not transfer.
  • If the valuation of Usage decision is Rejected, results do not transfer in the batch. I have no idea why this happens. In my Quality server, results do not transfer if UD valuation is rejected but in SND, results transfer every time irrespective of the UD valuation.

You showed the batch class.  But you didn't show the characteristics.

Have you added the characteristics to the class?  You do this on the "CHAR" tab.

LOBM_UDCODE is an SAP standard characteristic provided in the system.  When added to the batch class it displays the last UD made.  Add this to the class and then in the batch record you should get the UD code made in that characteristic.

LOBM_UDCODE should be assigned in the BATCH class not the MATERIAL class.

Thank you for the correction sir. I intended to say CL02 only, not MM02 classification.

Hi Experts!!!

Please!!! Can you help me????

I have the same problem, my results aren´t transfer to Batch Class

* I have the class characteristics assign to my MIC.

* I have the class characteristics in a class.

* I have the class assign to the material.

* I have MICs assign to a inspection plan.

* I do QCC0 customizing: Quality Inspection --> Inspection lot completion --> Transfer inspection decision to batch.

* I am using class type 04.

* The status of MICs after RR is 5.

* I accept the inps. lot with UD.

And i can see the results in MSC3N.

Also, after to read all your explanations, I assign class LOBM_UDCODE to my class in material... And the UD is NOTtransfer neither.

What can I do???

Do you have another suggestion??

Please, I will be very thankful if you give an idea.

Kindly,

Daniela

Are your MICs quantitative or qualitative? If qualitative then the batch char needs to have the catalogue assigned to it.

Hi Evguenia..

I have both of them... Please, can you see the images??

Quantitative:

Qualitative:

Fisrt, I created class characteristics.... Then, I created MICs referenced to Class Char.

The values and control indicators were transfered sucessful.

Hi Experts!!

Issue solved!!!

My quality inspection is using inspection plan. So, it was missing one check in SPRO--> Quality Management --> Basic Settings --> Maintain Settings at Plant Level, in Insp Lot completion Tab, Flag Batch valuation without material spec.

Is your quality inspection is using material especification, this flag is not necesary. (this is my personal conclution).

Thanks for your help...

Hi,

Please check that Characteristic is assigned in batch class or not in Classification view of Material Master?

Once you have maintained Chara. in Batch Class by using tcode CL02, System ll show pop up of Comparison of Inspection Results with batch value screen after valuate the results in Result Recording Screen.
