Can we integrate SharePoint Service into WebDAV Repository mgr?

Hi all:

Now I want to try to integrate Sharepoint Service (as WebDAV Server) into EP-KM by using WebDAV Repository mgr.

But I also heard the following from SAP:

>As part of the joint initiative around Web services for >the Enterprise in 2004 it was also

>announced that Microsoft will offer the missing link >between the knowledge management

>capabilities of SAP Enterprise Portal and Windows >SharePoint Services. This link will be

>implemented as a SharePoint WebDAV Connector. The >Connector will make it possible

>to access document libraries in Windows SharePoint >Services from within KM. KM user

>will be able to add, modify and search documents and >manipulate their properties from

>within KM iViews even if they are located in a Windows >SharePoint Services site.

>As the SharePoint WebDAV Connector currently is not yet >available, it is not possible to

>document all details of its installation, configuration >and usage.

On the other hand, MS said Sharepoint is able to handle WebDAV Protocol now.

Actually, I cannot integrate between them now.

Does anyone know about "SharePoint WebDAV Connector"?

What is it?

The WebDAV support in Sharepoint is completely broken (or, as Microsoft prefers to say, "restricted by design"). So, out of the box, access through the WebDAV Repository Manager will not work or at least not well.

The aforementioned connector is in development, but I'm not sure when it'll be available.

Hi

I understand why this integration is not worked well...

I don't need full function as webDAV (ex:versioning),

only I want to see SharePoint content as one of KM contents and can be indexed by TRex.

So, for example, if EP has other Repository mgr,

I can try to use this alternatively.

But Sharepoint Service is stored their contents in

SQL Server...

Does anyone know work-arround or tell me some suggestion?

Hi,

it's even the <i>basic</i> WebDAV support that is broken in Sharepoint, such as namespace operations (COPY, MOVE) and metadata (PROPPATCH).

Nevertheless, you can still try to configure a WebDAV repository manager to access Sharepoint and see how far you can get with that approach.

Hi all,

the today's best approach is to follow Julian's recommendations first. Then you should wait a short time until MS releases the SharePoint WebDAV Connector (SWC) which should fulfill your requirements.

The official name of the product will be "Windows SharePoint Services Connector for WebDAV" aka "SharePoint WebDAV Connector" (SWC).

MS is going to publish SWC on MSDN within the next weeks. I'll post an update with the URL, when it's ready.

Hi all,

the WSS WebDAV Connector (aka "SharePoint WebDAV Connector, SWC) was released some days ago and a new Interoperability Section on Microsoft-sap.com is now live.

See http://www.microsoft-sap.com/technology.aspx --> SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) for the WSS WebDAV Connector.

Kind regards,

Robert Draken, Comma Soft AG.
