Install Activex on Client machine.

Hello there

We have 100+ users who use our web based application. These users are not  Domain Admin. We want to use the Activex feature not the PDF.

When users run our web application and click print button the ActiveX installation popups comes and the admin users can install and print fine. But non admin users have no rights to install the Activex and they get Admin logon screen to install the ActiveX. It  is such a pain to install Activex manually to all 100+ users.

Is there anyny better way to handle this problem?  We are using 10.0.2000 in our web server and client have IE8 + IE9.

Thanks

Fawad

Your IT department have abilities to "push out" updates and software.

Talk to them, they can grant the installer Admin rights so it can simply be installed next time they log in using a script to deploy the printcontrol.cab file.

This is a basic Microsoft Network/Domain Management function, we get updates and "special" permissions are set all the time here which are pushed out by our IT department...

Hi Don

Thanks for the suggestion.

So I  just need to give my networking team the .cab file from our web server location . \\..\\..4_0_30319\crystalreportviewers13\ActiveXControls

which will resolve issue showing in the screen shot below?

Thanks for you help!

It should, if the ActiveX control is registered on the users PC it should not prompt to download it again.

If you apply updates though it may, you'll have to ask IT to push the updated cab file out again.

Thanks Don.

It turned out that SCCMS has limitation to push Activex to all users. I created the .msi package and included CR dll from the printbutton.cab file that way our networking team can push the SCCMS package to the users.

Thanks
