Issues with Masterdata on Fly

Hi Experts,

We are using SAP BPC10.0 SP10 with EPM addin SP15 Patch 1.

For our users, we have created the functionality of creating and updating master data using the concept of Master data on fly.

End user has the flexibility to trigger max. of 5 packages at a time using a button. When more than one user is triggering master data on fly packages at the same time, atleast one package is getting failed with the error and it doesnt create or update the master data of dimension.

RUN_LOGIC:Error while reading master data of dimension xxx.

There are no more application logs or job logs which explain the error more in detail. The BW process chain corresponding to this MD on fly package fails at the variant ZUJDXRL_VARIANT.

Did any of you encountered this error before? If so please help us out, as this is a critical issue for our business.

Guess its the locking issue from the back end, do you find any locks in sm12.

Check this thread on the behavior of multiple master data loads to the same target at the same time.(though its BW)

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the hint. I wonder if the read master data fails during update of same master data by another load. Is that the case? Please let me know.

Unfortunately, its difficult to trace SM12 locks since these packages finish within 5 seconds.

Hi Bindu,

Please describe exactly what do you mean by "End user has the flexibility to trigger max. of 5 packages at a time using a button." How the user is working with master data updates in your system?
