Which Excel is needed for SAP Business Objects Dashboards ?

We want to purchase this product. However, I have had a problem when I installed the trial version. It would not install if I did not have on my PC

the 32 bit Excel. So I had to uninstall 2013 excel and then install 2010 32 bit.

Even with this, there is constant conflict message. Once I load the XLF file and preview or create SWF, After this there is some excel error message that never disappears.

THis makes us nervous about this product.

I am looking for reassurance that if we purchase actually, we can use 64 bit excel and there won't be such issues.

It might be the case that one particular dll might have gone missing so you can try below mentioned steps.

1)Take a backup of the registry.

2)Delete the Xcelsius folder inside the registry.

3)Login to the machine as administrator and delete all the leftover folders for
Xcelsius.

4)Keep only one office version

5)Turn off the user account control settings to never notify.

6)Stop the anti-virus and firewall and then run the setup for the Dashboards as
administrator  by logging into the machine with administrator account.

hi Paul,

Dashboards designer supports Windows 7 and Office 2010 (32-bit).

for excel error, you can do the following:-

open excel > goto excel options > advanced > in general, check the option "ignore other applications that use DDE"  that opiton should be off.

Hope this helps,

Hi Paul,

Check the PAM for SAP BO Dashboards 4.0.

Also Check SCN Threads

So if we purchase this product, I create dashboards and can deploy on the crystal server. But do all users have to have 32 bit excel installed? Our entire company is 2013 64 bit.

Hi Paul,

If you are doing the development work and distributing the dashboard either by BOE server or by using SWF/PDF formats than you only need 32 bit excel.

If you have any other developers of Dashboard than you will need the same on their system.

Hi,

Have u checked your PC's prerequisites.

with 4MB RAM, I have worked without any problem in excel2010 32 bit.

if your error is, "Excel is busy" and giving option to retry... then its problem of Memory issue.

its always better to close all other MS-Excel when u r working in SAP Dashboards.

this is a good idea. I will check that. However, my issue is, does the install of SAP Dashboards req

32 bit Excel? in your case, can you tell me what type of EXCEL you have on your PC?
