Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding Production version selection
When no PV is found with selection method 3, no production orders or process orders can be created. I assume the same is true for the planned orders?.
Regards,
Ibrahim
Hi Syed
When no PV is found with selection method 3, no production orders or process orders can be created. I assume the same is true for the planned orders?.
System terminates the production order/Process order creation when selection method 3 and no valid PV.
When planned order generation system will generate planned order for FG material only and it won't generates the planned orders for further level of main material BOM components.
- When no valid PV is found when selection method 2 is set, what happens?
- Is the planned order created with no bom / recipe selected?
- If planned order is created, can it be converted?
System creates the production order/Process order by the information message " No valid production version found for material" when selection method 2 and no valid PV.
When planned order generation system will generate planned order for FG material and BOM components as well.
While converting system converts the planned order to production order by above same message.

Hi, Ibrahim
Selection method 3 or 2, It is used when you have more than two BOMs for the same material (system used this)
1) Diference betwen 3 or 2
If you use 3, only if you have version, the system creates the production/process order (generate a planned order)
If you use 2, the system will check the first version, if not found, it tries to find the rule of quantity (lot size).
2) When no PV is found with selection method 3, no production orders or process orders can be created. I assume the same is true for the planned orders?.
System generates a planned order (system generate message) but does not generate a production order/process order
3) When no valid PV is found when selection method 2 is set, what happens?
System generates a planned order or production order/process order, but does not have the list of components within the order. And the system generates message

Hello
With selection method 2, system first tries to read the BOM according to the production version. If there is no valid production version, system tries to select any valid BOM for, according to the date and quantity.
A planned order can be created without a BOM and converted to production order. You will see exception message 52 on MD04 when the BOM can't be exploded for a planned order.

Thanks for reply
1-Do planned orders created or not? with selection 2 and 3 and if production version not found
2-What is the difference between 2 and 3?
3-Does it check Recipe also with BOM for valid lot size and date.
Why not only use 3 if production version required ,why we use 2 then.

Ibrahim
Hello
A planned order is created with both 2 and 3.
The difference between both is that selection method 3 will only select according to the production version. If there is no valid production version, the BOM is not exploded.
With selection method 3, system still tries to find a valid BOM, even if the PV is not valid.
If you are not using lead time scheduling on the MRP, the master recipe will not even be read by the planned order.

Please Note :
1-Do planned orders created or not? with selection 2 and 3 and if production version not found : With selection 2 & 3 in MRP4 View , planned order will not be created because if you do not maintain any valid PV which is when BOM will be exploded by that selection procedure till its lowest level as well as Lead Time scheduling will be carried out based on the Validity of MR in PV .
Actually , validity of PV depends on both BOM Alternative validity as well as MR -Group validity .Then only a PV will be green flagged and will be utilized as a triggering point to explode the BOM based on the selection procedure 2 or 3 you have chosen in MRP4 view .
2-What is the difference between 2 and 3? If you select BOM explosion and selection method as 2 means Selection by production version i.e system will check the Lot Size and Valid From and Valid To date of the PV based on the order qty and selt the PV.If you select the Option 3 means , it will not check BOM qty or Explosion date , rather strict to PV Lot size and validity .
3-Does it check Recipe also with BOM for valid lot size and date. : Yes .Otherwise PV will inconsistent and will red flagged .Test it in MRP4 view with different validity of MRP group and try to hit Check button in PV screen details .You get the result .
Why not only use 3 if production version required ,why we use 2 then : Depends on your business process and decision of MRP BOM explosion you are looking for to plan your FG /SFG /ROH
Hope it clears your doubt !!

JH
Please note :
When no valid PV is found when selection method 2 is set, what happens? -
That means in MRP4 view Production Version has not been either maintained or the PV validity is on or before the actual production date or PV lot size range beyond the Production Qty
