Change of structure in Master data.

Hi All,

Some of reports are moved to Production. Now client ask to change structure of Master data.

After changing,While running the report, I am getting the error in report. So i deleted the transaction data and loaded. It is working fine.

But in Production, i am unable to delete the transaction data and load. Can you guide me how to achieve this.

Hi Jalina,

Please see the consequences below.

1. If you are chaning the structure of master data, automatically, the transactional infoproviders that contains this characteristic will be deactivated. So, you need to capture everything and then have to transport.

2. It is correct to delete the transactional data that has this master data and update the master data again and reload transaction data. This is the general practice.

3. Without deleting data from the transactional infoproviders, you cannot able to delete the master data in production or whatever system you're referring to.

Hi Harish,

It is possible to enchance the master data even there is data in Infocube.

We will get error only we are deleting some attributes from master data.

Hi,

it is possible to enhance the master data if you have data in cube.

don't delete the any attribute form the master data and let it be there only.

if you required you can use only respective attribute for reporting purpose.

if you delete you will not get any error form the master data and but no one attr using any where(cube,dso)

Hi,

No harm in that.you can enhance as per your needs.

But delete and reloading of master data will tricky one.

if your master data allowing only full loads then no  issues. deletion was not needed.

After the enhancement just load the full load. it will over write the old data.
