Hi Experts,

I am using WebI 3.1 thin client.

I want my chart to be effected from 2 fiters

1 filter is start date

2 filter is end date

I want my data should be calculated between these 2 dates nad will come in chart.

And I want these 2 filters not as a prompt....I want them at report screen...from there I should be able to select the dates.

and in that case is it neccessary that data type of date column in DB must be date or it can be varchar.

please assist

Its urgent for me.

Thanks & Regards

Nikita

Hi Nikita,

Assume that date you have is From date , create a copy of that object in universe and change it as To date.

Bring in both dates into webi report.Apply filters.

You can write variables to restrict data.

Limitation : You can't restrict users to select the dates lesser than to From date .In this cases write a condition to display an alerter to show "Select correct date range" like.

Input Control should be available in your version as well, I don't know, why it is not visible to you.

Are you using Java panel or not? Try it in Rich client if Input control is available there.

If you are on BOXI 3.1 SP2 and beyond then you should have Input control feature... To select dates on the report screen the only option is input control..

Can you explain what exactly you meant by.. Are you using a block level filter or report filter?

"when I am trying to add the date column as from date filter

and to date filter ...data is not getting filtered in charts.."

I am usind simple report filters... Actually I want to filter data between 2 dates but this data should be populated from one column because i have only one column of date in my table.

Nikita,

I have tried it with query filter as well as Input Control and I am able to filter it for chart with both the ways.

I think, you have some data type mismatch problem, can you please check if you have datatype DATE for your particular column in database side.

Thanks!

Hi Nikita,

For your first question, you can go ahead with Report filter or Input Control as suggested by Atul and Rakesh.

And for your second question, data type for date column must be DATE as you will be performing between operation at backend.

Hi Nikita,

As per Rakesh suggestion you can use input control as i would like to add one more.

You can use report filter.
