Integration of SAP BPM with SAP UI5

Hi Folks,

We are trying to implement a basic POC for integration of UI5 with SAP BPM. We want to understand how does UI5 trigger the BPM WSDL to initiate the process and provide the input parameters for process. Yes, it can be done using BPM ODATA(Not using SAP Gateway here ) but require help to do it from scratch. Pointers are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Mohit

    Hi Mohit,

The BPM OData is an OData service on the BPM server itself. It doesn't require Gateway. The purpose of Gateway (very loosely) is to provide OData services for ABAP so I suspect Gateway is not relevant to your situation anyway.

However the BPM OData are aimed at custom UI5 applications for BPM task execution rather than for starting the process.

    @Andre Backofen explains it here:

Custom UIs with the BPM OData Service

So I would think all you really need to do is call the BPM WSDL the same as from any other HTML5 application. A simple approach is to use JavaScript.

How to call a WSDL has been discussed in several threads in the UI Development Toolkit for HTML5 Developer Center

Alternatively you may find this thread useful

Let us know how you ended up doing it once you work it out? It's an interesting challenge and might make a nice additional blog perhaps?

    Rgds,

BPM start event is exposed as a web service. you have to execute that web service from your UI5 code.

    Refer these threads for reference:

    Hi Mohit,

If you are still facing issue you could also start you process using a restful service.

Use the link provide to create your restful service

How to Start a BPM Process using BPM API as a RESTful service.

If you face any issue you can message me or comment on the document.

I would be more than happy to help.

    Cheers
