Points to consider when moving to BI 4.1 from BI 4.0

Hi Experts ,

BI 4.0 SP6 ,SAP BW 7.4 SP3

Using : Webi ,Dashboards ,Mobile BI ,design studio and Explorer.Reports are published in Netweaver portal.

We want to move to BI 4.1 from BI 4.0 SP6 .Taken Production copy to a new server and doing dry run on it.

Now we have same host name 4.0 PRD and Test machine .

I want to know , having same host name for test machine and PRD or change host name in 4.0 test machine and doing dry run on it.

What are the pros and cons on doing the both approaches.

Hi,

technically it is not possible to have the same Hostname two times active in a Network. I would change the Hostname of the Test Server.

yes Seb , we can move this Test server to Work group.But it'll be difficult for portal integration then .

Hello,

but you can take the Host out of the Domain, change the Hostname and put it back into the Domain.
