Inspection lot valuation for in process inspection

Former Member

A confirmation process contains three operations. I have assigned MIC to second and third operations and inspection type 3 is activated. When a production order is released and confirmation is done, I get inspection lots.

I want to know how to manage these inspection lots in terms of UD status.

  1. If I reject an inspection lot, what would happen?
  2. Can I control the confirmation on the basis of inspection lot valuation?
  3. If UD is rejected for second operation, can third operation be controlled?
  4. If second operation UD is not done, can we prevent third operation confirmation?

Please help

Hi Sunny,

First of all you will not get inspection lot for 03 after Confirmation of an order it will be created as soon as you release Production Order.

  • If I reject an inspection lot, what would happen?
Nothing will happen regarding Order Confirmation. You can record results, record defects and Set Usage Decision as "Rejected". This will hit corresponding tables and will also reflect in your reports.
  • Can I control the confirmation on the basis of inspection lot valuation?

For inspection point valuation you can enter yield, scrap, rework quantity which will reflect at the time of Confirmation.

  • If UD is rejected for second operation, can third operation be controlled?
  • If second operation UD is not done, can we prevent third operation confirmation?

You can not give UD for An OPERATION,  UD will always be given for Inspection lot.

but there are certain controls you can have for operations, Go to OPK4 and Explore.

Check below links for the same.

Hi Amol, Thanks for your prompt response. I will check with the links you have given.

Yes I know UD cannot be given for operation. I that context I meant to say UD for inspection lot for that operation

What I have understand I will explain,

  1. Inspection lot will be created only when order is released.
  2. If result recording is required for each operation, inspection points can be used.
  3. Inspection lot valuation does not impact the confirmation process at all. But it can be used for reporting purpose. Correct?
  4. If factors like Yield%, inspection costing etc are maintained in inspection lots, same can be mapped in confirmation?

Hello Sunny,

  1. Inspection lot with 03 Inspection type will be created only when order is released.
  2. If result recording is required for each operation, inspection points can be used. Inspection points can be used in any case depending upon your business process.
  3. Inspection lot valuation Usage Decision does not impact the confirmation process at all. But it can be used for reporting purpose. Correct?
  4. If factors like Yield%, inspection costing etc are maintained in inspection lots, same can be mapped will reflect in confirmation.

This is a theory part, you should run whole cycle in SAP. It will solve lots of doubts and create lots of new doubts.

Hello Amol,

  1. Inspection lot with03 Inspection type will be created only when order is released- Understood!!
  2. If result recording is required for each operation, inspection points can be used.Inspection points can be used in any case depending upon your business process.
  3. Inspection lot valuation Usage Decision does not impact the confirmation process at all. But it can be used for reporting purpose. Correct?- Again, UD (Accepted or rejected) represents the Valuation of Inspection lot whether it is rejected or accepted
  4. If factors like Yield%, inspection costing etc are maintained in inspection lots, same can be mapped will reflect in confirmation- I got it!!

But I still have a doubt regarding the second point.

If I want to record result for each operation and mics are not similar for them like,

Oper 10- MIC1 and MIC2

Oper 20- MIC3 and MIC4

Oper 30- MIC5 and MIC5.

How do I record results for each operation in such a case? Using inspection points, I can go to enter operation value and do the result recording against a same set of MIC. What If I assign different mics to each operation of a single task list in routing itself and want to record results accordingly?

Is it possible?

I am able to understand everything else but this part is still not coming precisely.

Sunny,

You can also record results without inspection points.

Inspection points are used when multiple results are recorded for MIC. Even if multiple recording is not required you can record results for any operation using QA32/QE51N.

Explore.

Hello Amol, I know about the usage of inspection points but I am stuck somewhere else. Please see this which I earlier asked. I am not able to find anything related to this.

You can assign any MIC to any operation.

In routing you will select each operation and assign all different MICs.

At the time of result recording system will display all Operations and after selection you will be able to record results.

I am not sure whether am I following your query or not. if this doesn't answer your query kindly share screenshot of operations and Mics assigned.

So this is similar to different operations assigned in a single task list of an inspection plan. When go to results, we need to select an operation. I got it.

I guess all my issues are resolved now and hence should close this thread. I'll run a scenario with all this information and will come again to seek your assistance if stuck somewhere again.

Thanks a lot for your time Amol. I aapreciate

Sunny

In-process Inspection is mainly to control the production process. While doing results recording, you can control the yield %.

Do the settings in OPK4 for your order type.
