Dear experts,

We are having split valuation with local and import materials at IM level. In WM we have fixed bin strategy with out SU management. We have not activated batch management. With this setting system in not allowing different batched of same material in the fixed bin.

The business requirement is that they do not want material to be differentiated as per batched in WM, after searching various threads I could not find a solution for this problem.

Pl guide me on this requirement.

Regards,

Pranab

Dear Pranab ,

Greetings for day.

I believe  batch management should be active for valuating materials differently . If batch is active at IM it will flow to WM as well.

I think you should be able to add batches of different materials in same bin with settings relevant at storage type level.

Try testing this scenario with different storage type and figure out how system behaves.

let me know incase of any further querys.

Thanks

Jinoy

Dear Jinoy,

Thanks for your inputs,

We have not activated batch management at IM level, its only split valuation.

In WM we have used following settings at storage type level,

Put away strategy : Fixed Bin.

Addition to stock allowed

Mixed storage not allowed

I have tried all possible combinations but could not succeed.

Pl guide.

for addition to stock you have to have the same attributes in the quant, but since the batch number is different it will go to the next empty space.

You have to allow mixed storage to put the same material together if the batches are different

In the current business scenario we have used fixed bin replenishment. If I allow mixed storage, I guess fixed bin replenishment process will not work. Pl suggest.

Fix bin can certainly work with mixed storage, however you might get some trouble if you assigned the same bin to several materials as fixed bin.  Because then SAP will accept to store even different materials at the same time.

Here is an example of a non-batch managed spare part where we use split valuation.

As you can see the valuation type (NEW_PART or REPAIRED) becomes automatically displayed as batch number, this is just a technical design of SAP.

And so it is as well the batch number in warehouse management, hence all restrictions to batches apply in this case too.

if you valuate stocks differently, then it must be possible to identify such stocks, SAP is an integrated system, Finance or WM cannot work independent of each other, hence a setting made for finance purpose has impact on Logistic processes too.

I dont think you will find a suitable workaround without messing up the other site.

Dear Jurgen,

Thanks for explanation. Businesses is not looking for stock pin pointing as per the batch. The practical difficulties which business is facing are,

1) The no of bins occupied has doubled as same material is occupying two bins and there is physical constraint of bins.

2) We can maintain one fixed bin per material in WM view 2 and this is irrespective of batch, thus this is hampering the auto fixed bin replenishment.

if you do not use batch management, but have split valuation, then the valuation type is automatically populating in the batch number field. So in turn you have batch management through the back door.

Thanks Jurgen, pl guide on the way out as business do not want to track as per batches in WM but only want to monitor for financial reporting at higher level. We are open for development.

Thanks,
