CLM Integration with SRM including Account Assignment

Hi All

we have a requirement where we need to maintain account assignment in CLM contract line item. I know that the out-of-box CLM is not supporting account assignment, but we can do a custom solution to make it work. When we started discussing we came up with a lot of questions because accounting data is sensitive data, so we don't want to replicate the accounting data to CLM system instead we are exploring whether the CLM can able to do real-time pull from ECC while creating each contract and does all native validation.

1) As per SAP document the CLM should keep all master data locally in CLM. This is a dependency. But one of top consulting company folk says we don't need to keep master data in CLM. have you done any implementation without replicating some master data into CLM?

2) As per SAP document there are only two options available to replicate master data ( 1) Export and Import 2) Auto replication via PI interface)

I don't see any SOA interface to handle the real time synch which means the real time option is not a viable approach until otherwise we develop the entire SOA interface. have you done it any of your implementation? or Is any one from SAP did it before?

3) Account Assignment: If we are not replicating account assignment to CLM, Will CLM call ECC and fetch the account assignment while creating contract and do all necessary validation? Which mean the call will be more smart enough to handle the traffic and session. I know these interface are not yet available and also fetch data at real time could require huge development effort and may get into some performance issue.

4) How about ongoing support ( Production support, error handling, future enhancement)? will it be easier in maintenance mode?

    Hi Saga,

    At this time we dont support the account assignment on line items as part of the standard solution. Since this is more FI/CO relevant data then procurement, the belief is that this can easily be added when the Outline agreeemnt gets created in ERP..or during the follow-on business process (ex: PO creation in ERP)

    To answer your questions however

    1. All the necessary master and dependent data required for integration is replicated from ERP. We dont do it any other way.

    2. We primarily use IDOC's and ERP - report to generate and extract the needed master data. SOA interfaces are not used at this time with ERP integration

    3.Standard solution does not support Account assignemnt hence we dont do any synchronus calls during Master agreement save or validate.

    A custom solution can be implemented to do this, but its needs to be designed with performance in mind. (A simple synchronus RFc Call to fetch/validate account assignment categories with a custom RFC and perhaps a validation or pre-save script in SAP Sourcing will be one approach)

    4. Any custom solution that will be implemented will be the ownership of customer and support will be provided for standard code.
