Sorry for the late reponse as I was away and appreciate your effort.

i want to know the difference of rough cut planning and long ter capacity planning from a business application perspective like  what scenario we should adopt rough cut or long term capacity or typically in which business cases fits these models .  How will I decide which planning suits a planning & production process?

Hi,

Rough cut capacity planning is for capacity check for key resources during SOP...

Check the links as suggested by Mr. Caetano...

Long term planning is basically simulation of MRP run........check the below document for full flow with screen shots step by step...

Thanks

Hi Nikhil,

RCCP - RCCP is used to make a quick check on the capacity of the key resources to meet the proposed  plan.

Refer the below Wiki.

http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPMan/Rough-Cut+Capacity+Planning+on+SOP

LTP -  LTP provides support for long-term production planning and for carrying out simulations in short and mid-term planning.

Refer SAP Help

Thanks & Regards,

Hello

RCCP is the capacity planning on SOP. Check the following document for an example:

I have never heard about LTCP and I could not find any reference on the documentation. Not even on google. Maybe you are refering to capacity planning on long-term planning. In this case, it is a completely different tool and it is basically a capacity evaluation based on CM38.
