Scheduling Webi Report as Mail with PlainText inside the mail

I'm trying to schedule a report within the Launchpad to be sent via Mail.

Including the report as attachment as txt(plain text) works fine, but I want to have this text in the body of the mail.

So here is my question: How do I achieve this?

Hello,

To send report in email body you can create publication in which you can select mHTML format in Format section and in destination tab you can use "%SI_DOCUMENT_HTML_CONTENT%" as place holder in email message which will put your report in email body.

Hello,

first of all, thanks for you reply. It took me over an hour to get it running. You have to select one recipient beside the mail adress, otherwise the report will not be processed.

The content of the mail is html, not plain text as needed.

Any other sugestions?

Do you mean you want to send reports content as text format and not HTML?

If yes, them i am not sure we can send report content as text in email body.

Will check on this and let you know if i get anything.

Yes, plain text is what i want to send.

I have tried the normal scheduling, but it didn't work, so now I'll reed the section about publications from the BI-Platform-Guide.

Hi Jens,

This thread is rather old, but I thought there may be some usefull information you have ;-).

For years, we struggle with plain text and scheduled reporting mails.

Since XI 3.x we use the following procedure to accomplish this.

- Exporting the scheduled report to PDF as file on a server.

- Generate a plain text output through a tool like pdf2txt.

- Do some scripted reformatting on the plain text file so it's readable.

- Send the mail containing the reformatted reporting text as mail text and attached PDF.

Everything is scripted in PERL. Some colleagues know how it works ;-).

But now, with the introduced XI 4.x the exported PDF is obviously some other version that pdf2txt is not able to handle properly. The ouput text is rather confusing.

Since there's obviously no option in BO to export to PDF in some different format(s), we now try to find a PDF text extraction tool which again meets our needs.

How did you resolve this issue? Have you finally used the HTML output?

We still want to send the original PDF file and plain text within a single mail, as we did with XI 3.x.

Maybe the HTML output is an option for us, if we could attach the PDF in the same mail. But, I guess BO is not able to perform more than one export option for a scheduled report.
