Maximum scheduling job?

Former Member

Hello guys.

Please let me know if I post it wrongly.

May I know how many job schedule that I can run in my SAP BI 4.1 SP1 server? Is there a limit?

Product: SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 1

Version: 14.1.1.1036

As far as I know, the minimum time to get latest instance by scheduling is 1 minute. Currently, I have 2 reports for testing and I also generate web service through WebI. I schedule them to run every 1 minute. Is there any problem that it will create?

Thanks.

amano

Hi Amano ,

There is no limit in scheduling jobs.

It depends on your Hardware req.Allocate good amount RAM to publication services and job service.

Hi Kumar,

Thanks for your reply.

Does it mean that it also doesn't matter if I schedule all reports to run every 1 minute?

Thanks.

Hi Amano,

It also depends on your report refresh time, if it refreshes within one minutes then you can schedule that after every one minutes.

You can even define number of scheduling jobs runs at any particular time.

Hi Bhayani,

How to define number of scheduling jobs? Do you mean that if I run 2 reports every 1 minute, does it mean that there are 2 scheduling jobs running at the same time?

Recently, I face 1 problem. Attached is the error message. Does it related to my scheduling job? It keeps happening after I restart related server components.

If a new post is required, I will make anew.

Thanks.

Hi Amano,

In Adaptive processing server you can define number of concurrent job for Webi reports scheduling. find attached screenshot for the same.

I don't think the error which you are getting is connected to scheduling, hence i would recommend to have separate thread for the same.

Error message is for "cannot access external data", this is error can occur with many reason. If you are accessing dashboard from BI Launch pad then confirm that you are using the same server URL to open BI launch pad.(with domain name if you have used in web service in Dashboard).

If that is correct then ask your administrator to check logs generated while you get this error, which might help you to trace the issue.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Bhayani,

Thanks for the screenshot.

That error occurs in my external dashboard. That dashboard is a .swf file and it's using BIWS. It works for several hours, then the error will occur. I will open a new post for this.

Other than that, regarding to BIWS, it seems like I can't have 2 dashboard calling to the same BIWS at the same time. Is it true? Whenever I open 2 same dashboard (BIWS is same, of course), another error will occur.

Thanks.

Hi Amano,

I don't have much knowledge about BIWS connection, But if you observe that 1 BIWS creates problem while calling from different dashboard at the same time, try to create separate BIWS for each dashboard.

It may resolve your problem.
