Process for transporting Utilities Products?

We're upgrading from CRM 2007 to CRM 7, EHP3, and have just applied Service Pack 3, which includes Note 1913665 that allows for the transport of utilities products.

We have products created in Dev already, so I'm hoping I can plug these into a transport and avoid having to re-create the data manually in QA and Prod.

Has anyone else tried using this new functionality yet and can tell me how it works?

I've searched in the SAP help files, and there's mention there of transporting sets/attributes, but that seems to relate to Materials products, and our stuff is Service products.

Thanks

Astrid

did some more digging and just found this link

Looks like it's not going to be as easy as I was hoping, product versions etc

Hello Astrid,

the modelling of utilities products is different from CRM7.0 to CRM7.0 EHP3. In order to use the product transport you have to migrate you existing CRM7.0 products first of all which means that a new product version will be created automatically.

In general this product transport functionality only supports utilities products (which are all service products) respectively product versions which must have status "Active for Testing" or "Released". The products will not be transported via a transport request but via a RFC function module which requires a working RFC connection.

In case you use BRFplus function you also have to install the Add-On SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management (SAP NW DSM).

Last but not least you can find all relevant information in the documentation https://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm700_ehp03/helpdata/en/17/c570529197826ae10000000a423f68/content.htm?...

Best regards,

Michael.
