Internal Numbering and Leading Zeros - Portfolio Item

Hi,

We just upgraded to PPM5.0 SP11 and I am trying to setup the long awaited standard PPM object numbering. My requirement is to keep things fairly simple and have a 3 digit number. So the item numbers will be 0012014, 0022014.... 9992014 etc. Setup the number ranges as follows.

But the results I am getting is a bunch of leading 0s. So instead of 0012014 I get 000000000000000000012014. Is there any way around this using standard? I did enable the external ID field and I can manually delete the 0's which tell me that the field will accept a value like 0012014, but of course this is not viable option in production system.

Thanks,

Lashan

    HI Lashan,

I think you cannot get the item ID with a range, because in your case only one part of the ID is a range XXX2014. You need to create your own Zrange with 3 char.

Thanks Clara... I was really hoping I can stay with standard this time, specially since I've been waiting 10 years for SAP to make this standard functionality in PPM 😊. But I think you are right, I will have to go the custom route with this again.
