Automating dashboard cache queries

Hi Experts,

I have the following scenario :

Daily SAP dashboard (Excelsius) with 20 interactive queries that refresh (with default data) when I open the it. The queries run of BW universes (.unx) and take up to 20 seconds to refresh each query. I use the Dashboard Design Cache server in CMC to improve the performance of my queries and this works very well. The cached queries respond immediately after I opened the dashboard for the first time but this is a manual process.

Now here is my question:

How can I automate the caching of the dashboard queries?

Thank you

Gerrie

I dont think you can do that. The queries and all options in the queries with parameters have to run at least once for the session to cache the data. Unfortunately thats not ideal. If this is a burning requirement you can look into 3rd party addons like InfoBurst XDC where the the required amount of data can be pre-cached and anyone opening the dashboard anytime will get faster performance.

    Hi Gerrie,

If cache server is up and running is cache mechanism not working automatically?

it should create a cache file here

path_to_installation]\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\XcelsiusCachingServer\temp\[server_name].DashboardsCacheServer\parent\cache directory

    for use.

    Thanks,

      Hi Sapanesh,

which data connection u are using?

Universe connection, JDBC, Sap NetWeaver BW - I don't have any issues with this

you can try refreshing based on time in usage tab for first run to update the cache.

There is no "time" option under the Usage options, Refresh options or Load status option. Please clarify or send screen shots.

then for manual refresh, refresh button can be used in canvas

      Not applicable.

      Thanks
