Blank report instance

Hello,

I occasionally get blank scheduled reports.

The reports are very important and our customers are very strict.

The scheduler shows success but generated PDF reports have no data - no single query.

There are a few instances of the report (9). Only one or two of them may fail, it's unpredictable.

The report takes about 5 minutes to complete (it has a few data providers from different sources.)

The only error I could find in BO logs is this:

(The file name is webiserver_<OURSERVERNAME>.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer1_ncs.trc)

[Thr 24300] ***LOG Q0I=> NiPGetHostByName: '$SMDAgentHost' not found: getaddrinfo [ninti.c 897]
[Thr 24300] *** ERROR => Main agent failed to be initilized due to incorrect host setting! [ncsmtdatasen 20]
[Thr 24300] *** ERROR => Main agent failed to be initilized due to incorrect host setting! [ncsmtdatasen 20]

We are using SAP BO 4.1, SP5.

Thanks, Bharath, but I don't know how to add a dedicated processing server to a specific schedule.

Hi,

What I understood that you got the report but has Blank Output? If this so, did you check the query result?

Regards

The problem only occurs occasionally on the DISTRIBUTED report (via the scheduler). Rerunning it manually is no problem.

First thing I would check is the "Limit the execution time to" setting in the universe parameters. If this value is set to five minutes, then it would explain the behavior you're seeing -- when the query completes in under five minutes, everything is good. But if the query takes longer than that, it will return no values.

If that's not it, I would then suggest creating another scheduled instance to run at the same time, but generated in WebI format. If both the PDF and WebI version are blank, at least the WebI version will allow you to do some debugging -- check the query results, runtime, which data provider(s) are causing the problem, etc.

Thanks very much, Joe. The execution time is no problem. It comes back very quickly. I am using the suggestion to generate a Webi output to see if I find any useful error messages.
