WBS number changed by mistake and the user gets an error trying to change it back to the old WBS number

Hi

I have a user who has mistakenly changed their WBS element number and realized that this WBS element number was not supposed to be changed. The user later realized that they should not have changed the WBS element number and when they try to change it back to the old number they get the following error: Message no. CJ026 "A WBS element with the name C.XXXXXXX already exists in version RELEASED". Does anyone know how this project WBS element can be changed back to the old number?

Hi Nirfrash,

I think system behaviour is correct.

Please refer notes 160884, 529634 and 616732.

Meanwhile, you can also check OPTS tcode. Just check the system status is REL or not. If yes, then it is quiet obvious that whenever Project/WBS is released then system will definitely creates a new version and if you do not want system to create version, then you need to change the setting in OPTS.

But I suggest you to go with above mentioned OSS notes.

Hi,

I think you are using version. Just manually delete that old WBS element entry from table VSPRPS_CN. After that try to recreate that WBS element again.

Hi,

For locking the WBS:

In CJ20N select the WBS->edit option in menu bar->Status->lock->lock(individual/all)

Also read the link below to understand system status:

Hi Shishir

I have been facing the same problem. In your thread you have mentioned to delete the old entry manually. Can you explain me the procedure on how we will need to carry this out?

Also we are not in a position to implement OSS note 160884 since this deletes all the project versions that have been created in the system so far. I have also gone through OSS note 382633 which is not helpful in deleting status dependent project versions. OSS note 529634 only suggests the method in which we need to deactivate status dependent project versions but it is not helpful to correct the wrong entry that has been created.
