Taxonomies on Portal's advanced search iview

I'm using EP 6.0 SP13 with KM for document management. I've created a document repository and added an TREX search&classification index on it. Then I have created a taxonomy with several categories on the index. Checking in documents into the repository allows me to categorize the documents. Searching for the documents gives me just the posibility to select the index but not the taxonomies and categories. How can the taxonomies and categories be included into the search-UI? I want to have check-boxes for each taxonomy and categorie which can be selected by the users before they submitt a search request.

Hello again,

due to the fact that nobody felt obliged to contribute ideas to this topic, I would like to reword this:

As I understand the purpose of taxonomies, they are used to classify dokuments into categories. If I have a bunch of documents which were categorized into an taxonomy / category structure I would like to have a search function which allows me to select 1 to n categories out of all categories to find all documents which fit into my selection, without formulating a search phrase. Or is this not the meaning of taxonomies and categories ?
