The relevent documentation for "enhanced search" function is introduced in ABAP Dictionary of 7.40 release's help.
Elementary Search Help -  ABAP Dictionary - SAP Library

Please pay attention to the prerequisites part:

Prerequisites

In order to provide an enhanced search help, you            will need to take the following prerequisites into consideration:

  • SAP GUI version 7.30 for Windows Patch Level 5, recommended Patch Level 6
  • SAP NetWeaver 7.40 SP06
  • The fuzzy search is currently only supported for SAP HANA database on ABAP                  systems.

I want to turn on "Do not show Enhanced Search" by default.  I am working on a new SAP GUI 7.40 build and want to activate it in my new build.  If not there then I need to see if it can be done on the abap side.

Cheers,

Dan Mead

Hi Dan,

You can change it through GUI option setting:
SAP GUI Options >Interaction Desing >Visualization 2
Enhanced Search
check "Do not show Enhanced search",

You can also change it through registry key:

Enhanced Search
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\SAPGUI Front\SAP Frontend Server\Customize] “EnhancedSearchMode” (REG_DWORD) [Default: “1”] {0 = do not show; 1 = show automatically; 2 = show on demand}

Thanks Zoe,

I chose the registry method but it has no impact.  It is still showing up.  We would prefer using a method like the registry change if it worked.  Any ideas why it does not?

Hi Dan,

From the screenshot, seems  "Do not show Enhanced search" has already been set by the registry right? Then the registry setting is working fine.
Might be some problem with "Do not show Enhanced search" function?
I would suggest to first update to the latest GUI patch, in case enhanced search is still showing up.
It is better to create an incident with the detailed steps to reproduce the issue, our support consultant will then check further.

Best Regards,
Zoe

With SAP enhanced search, when you key partial information, e.g., part number, SAP will automatically search the complete information for you.

I key in '527' in material field and with enhanced search, SAP will display material number which start with 527.

What version of SAP GUI is this (I see the tag for gui_7.30) I am running 7300.2.4.1085 patch level 4 hotfix 2; and I do not have this under my options...and this has peeked my interest as I'm the TREX guy for my company!

Does F1 help on that particular field show documentation ?

The results of hitting F1:

My first thoughts were that SAP flipped on functionality to allow for a drop down while you start typing (like an HTTP or NWBC gui option), but switching the options and trying tx MM03 did behave any differently.

I also went straight up to PL 7 now.

It doesn't explain much

I am on 7.20 version and looking forward to learn more about this feature from your findings.

It's a shame that SAP offers a new function in the GUI options and forgets to do a documentation that describes it's features ...

Has anyone found something new about it?

I informed one of my ABAP devs and he suggested that there might also be a SP side requirement before this actually shows some kind of behavior within a ABAP system...I could also see Enterprise Search being a requirement.

Hello Manish,

7.20 has been out of support since April 2013.

You should think about migrating to 7.40 soon as 7.30 will be out of support in July this year.

Hi Jude

I am on 7.30 right now.

7.40 will be provided to our team soon enough.
