How to configure the connection between PCo and InSQLPCo connector in SAP MII

Hi All,

Our scenario is as follows: we would like to push alerts to MII based on tags in Wonderware inSQL database. According me, pushing alerts is not possible with SAP MII inSQL connector. Typically this logic is executed by SAP Plant Connectivity (PCo 2.3) but this one has no inSQL connector installed by default.

How can we implement this configuration?

I found some documentation on a new connector inSQLPco in SAP MII14 SP04. According SAP help, we need to create in SAP MII (14 SP04) a dataserver inSQLPco connector (PCo connector type) connected with the Historian database (WW) which can be used in SAP Pco as a data source server.

"InSQLPCo connector is similar to inSQL connector except that inSQLPCO connector is of type PCo. It can be used in PCo and Plant Information Catalog query as a source data server."

How should I configure the connection between PCo and inSQLPCo connector in SAP MII?

    Hi Murielle,

The InSQL and InSQLPCo Data servers in MII are Query data servers only, so a request for data has to be initiated from MII to retrieve tag data. The InSQLPCo connector does not connect to PCo to make the connection.

PCo supports a Notification interface such that a PCo Agent Instance can subscribe to Tags from a Source and send send that Tag data to a Destination (i.e. MII) when a defined Notification trigger condition occurs.

It may be possible to do what you arer trying to achieve with the PCo OPC Source Agent. You should be able to connect the PCo OPC Source System Agent to any Wonderware IOServer using OPC DA 2.05a. then you can subscribe to the tags defined in the IO Server and use PCo Agent Instance Notifications to detect tag changes and push the related tag values to MII via the PCo MII Destination.

      Hi Murielle,

The InSQLPCo Connector is added in MII to leverage the data from Wonderware® IndustrialSQL Server (InSQL) in Plant Information Catalog(PIC).

Earlier than MII 14.0 SP4, PIC was only supporting PCo Data servers, so this InSQLPCo Connector was added so that PIC supports the InSQL Data servers as well.

So to sum up, InSQLPCo Connector is just like InSQL connector connecting to Wonderware® IndustrialSQL Server but of connector type as PCo so that it is supported in PIC.

Differences in usage for query templates is explained by Steve in the earlier reply.

      Rohit Negi.
