Migrating Only CI to a Linux from AIX

Hi All,

Currently we have an  ECC 6.0 dual stack and it is on AIX and only the CI has to be migrated to Linux where as the DB will still be on AIX.

I have gone through few of the forums and i understand that this can be done by Installing the CI on the new server (Linux) and after installation

adapt the profile parameters accordingly.I went through the System copy guide and i feel heterogenous system copy option should be selected.

Any inputs would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Ershad Ahmed.

Hi,

If you have DB+CI on same host, the best option is new CI installation on Linux and then delete the CI on AIX.

With some additional care, you can perform this online! During cutover there will be some downtime.

Hi Nick,

Thank you for the reply.. Do you know of any OSS note or any standard SAP document which covers this migration ??

Hi,

the easiest way is shoutdown and remove the old CI and install the new one. Actually this process is not a migration itself.

Another option is to install a normal application server in Linux and separate the ASCS and SCS from the CI keeping them in the same host than the DB.

Here you have the note that explain this second option.

821904 - Separation of SCS instances for ABAP and J2EE
