We have CTS+ configured with Solman as our Domain Controller. We want to move this from one solman to a new solman box. Can we use the traditional method of setting up new solman as the backup domain controller and then shutting down the old solman, then activing new solman as the domain controller. Will this work.
If this doesn't work, is there a standard help reference available for such an activity or do we redo the whole CTS+ again. Can anyone lend your thoughts here.

When it comes to your question on building backup domain controller -
Yes. You can build the new solmon as backup domain controller provided both the systems are on same release(not sure if it can be done for different releases)
But having said that as you are building a new system, i don't see any advantage of maintaining it as a backup domain controller. May be if you want to have a look at the retrofit functionality the below blog helps you
