Accessing documents in SAP Knowledge Warehouse

Hello,

As per the documentation, Mobile Document solution can connect to SAP Portal KM or Sharepoint to access the contents. If I have documents stored in SAP Knowledge Warehouse, how can this be accessed ?

Thanks,

Murali

Hi Murali.

SAP Mobile Documents can only be connected to repositories via Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS). So the answer is no, unfortunately it is currently not possible to connect SAP KW. But maybe there will be support in the future, I can't tell for which systems CMIS connectors will be provided. I can imagine that is a matter of customer demand

Hi Murali,

could you please describe your use cases for accessing documents in SAP Knowledge Warehouse
in more detail. We are currently collecting requirements for our next SP and business application integration will be a focus topic in 2014. In this context it is very interesting to learn about your scenarios (is it in the context of a specific application, which roles are involved, what version of KW needs to be supported,...).

Thanks in advance & Best Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I am working with a customer who are storing documents in KW while working with ERP/SRM transactions. I do not have any requirement as of now. I was wondering if there is an option to use Mobile Documents to access those documents. I will probably post with more details once I get to know the actual requirement.

Cheers

Murali

Hello Martin,

are there any plans to support the access of documents stored in network file shares? Or is this even possible right now?

Best Regards

Hi Christian,

this is already possible. The Mobile Documents installation for NetWeaver AS Java contains a CMIS connector for SAP Knowlege Management (KM). The KM repository framework offers connectors (repository managers) to access a file system.

You could use a File System Repository Manager with somewhat limited functionality (File System Repository Manager - Knowledge Management - SAP Library) or a CM repository Manager with persistence mode FSDB ( CM Repository Manager - Knowledge Management - SAP Library )

You can connect these type of repository managers as "Corporate Repository" (Configuring CORPORATE DOCUMENTS Repositories - SAP Mobile Documents - SAP Library)

Hi Karsten,

thanks a lot for the detailled answer.

We are currently evaluating the market for products like "SAP Mobile Documents" and according to the available pdf-presentations I think it would fit very well for our demand but we have a lot of backend systems we need to connect. For example SAP ERP, Easy Archive, Siemens PLM (Teamcenter), File System, Sharepoint, ...

Is there an overview of possible backend systems or available CMIS connectors?

Thanks and regards

Hi Christian,

the only list I know right now is here: Content Management Interoperability Services - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since CMIS is a standard that is not tied to a specific programming language, implementing a connector is feasible for almost every system that deals with documents.
