Why one more step (LBWE) needed in LO Cookpit compared with traditional?

Without LO Cookpit, we just get to R3 side SBIW to transfer the DataSource, and then get to BW side to replicate the DataSource, but now with LO Cookpit, one more step is needed (LBWE) afer transferring the DataSource on R3.

I know with LBWE, the DataSource is activated first, then the extraction structure can be added with standard fields by clicking the Maintenance button and the DataSource can be maintained with some operations, also the job control can be maintained and Queued Delta can be maintained. However, what are the advantanges of this one step over the traditional with only Transfer DataSource on R3?

Thanks for everyone's input!
