Hello,

Can anyone help me? I want to know the prerequisites of SAP MAP implementation. Followings are my concern part:

Q. Does SAP ECC 6.0, EHP 3 support SAP MAP implementation? If not, please provide the system requirment details.

Q. Does SAP Netweaver 7.0 support SAP MAP implementation? What else system requirements are?

Q. What is major difference between BPS (Business Planning Simulation) and BI - IP (Integrated Planning) and does SAP Netweaver 7.0 supports both Planning solution?

Q. Can we implement SAP MAP in ECC 6.0 itself and Ms-Excel would work as Datawarehouse instead BW system? I mean, without using BW system, can we implement SAP MAP? If yes then what SAP ECC 6.0 should have other prerequisites in terms of Support Package Stack, other software component.

In short, Does anyone have any particular document which provides all the information at one place. If yes then please provide me or you can mail me at ashish.amitanshu@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Ashish Kumar

The SAP MAP has a new avatar Planning for Retail with BI Content 7.37 & 7.47

The new BI Content for SAP Retail Merchandise Planning covers functional as well as process enhancements.

To Answer your questions:

With SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SAP delivers BI Integrated Planning in addition to BW-BPS. BI Integrated Planning is the new planning capability which is completely integrated in the BI architecture.

That means BI Integrated Planning uses the same:

  • data storage for key figures, metadata, master data and transaction data
  • analytical engine (OLAP processor)
  • user interfaces (Business Explorer Suite) as for the reporting tasks

SAP NetWeaver product management recommends BI integrated Planning for all implementations starting with SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

BW-BPS is still delivered and maintained with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and future releases of SAP NetWeaver it will not further be developed in functionality. New developments will only be made in BI Integrated Planning.

BI Integrated Planning is live at various customers globally. Many projects are currently in process.

Dear Ramesh,

Thanks for your Answer!

You mean SAP Netweaver 7.0 supports both BPS and IP but IP is more suitable option than BPS. Am I right?

I am doing pre-implementation evaluation for one of client who actually wants to implement MAP. I did same evaluation for "Planning for Retail" for them but it is not a viable option for them because SAP Netweaver 7.0 is required to upgarde to 7.3.

I am SAP Retail Consultant and first time exploring MAP. As far as I know MAP is more related to BI work as all planning related settings would be configured in BI system. Am I right?

Can you please provide me all the prerequisites in terms of system vesrions both SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP Netweaver 7.0, EHP, SPS, BI_Content, User Authorizations, Ms-Excel vesrion etc.

If you can provide me some pre-implementation evaluation paper on MAP then it will be great.

Or, If you can provide me your contact number then I can talk to you over phone.

thanks in advance!

BR,

Ashish Kumar
