Does SAPUI5 actually work in the SAP Portal?

I'd have preferred to have created a poll for this but unfortunately I don't have the ability to do so here...

I've been helping out an independent consultant working at one of our customers on a different project to me, around a SAPUI5 PoC he is building. He is trying to deploy and run a relatively simple SAPUI5 application within a brand spanking new NW 7.31 SP9 Enterprise Portal but having lots of issues with browser compatibility and generally just making the thing run!

As far as I can see, SAP are focusing on making SAPUI5 work brilliantly as a stand-alone app on either mobile or desktop but I'm wondering where this leaves those of us who typically work more in the confines of the Portal framework?

So, quick question and all feedback would be appreciated - has anyone actually had success in creating SAPUI5 components that run correctly, embedded as iViews in an SAP Portal? If so, I'd be interested in the full version of your Portal and also a brief overview of how you did it and any problems you encountered. I'm aware there are already a couple of blogs on this topic but they seem to explain how to "work-around" the current problems, which is disappointing.

Thanks,

Gareth.
