Inventory Management for Samples

Hi -

We are in the Food industry and have to manage the inventory of SAMPLES (Quantity only and not the value).

Is there a simplified way to do this? Our business user does not want to go through the hassle of creating / maintaining material master entries for these.

My first thought was to recommend MS Access or Excel, as you cannot manage inventory without material number.

But you could eventually use just one material, material type UNBW, name it  e.g. "various food samples"

you make this material batch managed, using external batch numbers only.

Each batch will represent the individual material , e.g. apple, banana, ...

Idea suggested by Jurgen is good. But i just wanted to know what you are going to do with the samples afterwards?
