Business Area Determination in a Project

Dear Gurus,

How is the Business Area determined in a project(CJ20N and tables PRPS, PROJ) ? The business area is assigned to a plant in configuration, but how is it determined from here into a project? Is the plant first determined and then the corresponding business area is determined?
