Steps to create universe over Bex query

Hello gurus,

I am new to BO. I have a requirement to create Information space over BEX query. After searching I found out that Information space can use 2 sources-either xcel or universe. So, I used Universe Design Tool to create a universe based on Bex query, but it is creating universe in .unv format, while Information space will accept only .unx format. I tried to convert this .unv to .unx using IDT, but its showing OLAP Universes cant be converted. Then, I tried to create OLAP universe using IDT - i created OLAP connection (by selecting BICS). After that when i tried to created Business layer over OLAP connection, again I am getting the below error message. Can anybody help me ? I learned these tools from my own, so may be I have missed some options. Please help me.

the .UNV format BW MDX OLAP universe is supported in Explorer, but you require the higher 4.0 SP6, or ideally BI 4.1 SP1 for the 64 bit process.

    See info here

For all other lines of enquiry, as you've found out, these are supported (conversion, universe ontop of BICS)

with 4.0 there is no way you can create a OLAP Unx on top of BEx query...

However the UNV format on top of OLAP query is still supported with universe design tool for which you do not need to convert the universe.. And if you are on SP6 and beyond you can use the OLAP UNV for your explorer information spaces..

    Hi Rakesh,

OLAP UNX directly is not possible on BEx query.

Please go through the below link, might be helpful in your situation.
