CAD integration

Hi Gurus

i have some questions about real estate:

1- does CAD means Auto cad or the CAD is a plugin for SAP RE-FX?

2- how i integrate between CAD and SAP RE-FX or in which areas the integration happened?

3- what the requirement for the integration?

anybody have any document will help

Hi Islam,

There are many third party licensed solutions which you have to buy as a separate product for using this CAD integration which allows integration with various CAD products available in the market. An example of such a product is by KORASOFT and CIDEON.

Now, if you talk about implementing a CAD solution without a third party product. This requires a lot of development effort. And, I suppose you will only be able to view a .dwg file and edit it to some extent.

Some 3rd party products in the market allow you to view and plan occupancy for the object using the CAD integration. This allows a better picture of the occupancy of your portfolio master, an example of such a case is a floor plan in office space management.

Hello Islam,

CIDEON is responsible for the Visual Real Estate integration that allows use of AutoCAD data and drawings directly in SAP RE-FX (CIDEON and Korasoft merged in 2012 to join together their product portfolio... news, korasoft | CIDEON SOFTWARE GMBH).

One of the main use cases is the master data management driven from AutoCAD, which allows you to use CAD as the main source of measurement information for buildings and sync this with SAP. As soon as a change is made to your drawings, it will be updated in SAP.

One partner I have worked with created an SAP certified add-on that directly integrates with RE-FX and PM. The technology is using BSP and integrates real time with SAP. Therefor no additional database is required. Below you can find the web page for more information.
