Java CI Import

Hello Gurus,

I have a strange requirement. I am sure its not supported by SAP but this being a POC server/sandbox we are trying to do it. Its a distributed environment

Source system: Dual stack CRM system, Basis realease 700 SP26, BBCRM 600 SP11. MS SQL 2005 SP4 database, Win 2003 server

Target System: Dual stack CRM system, Basis realease 700 SP26, BBCRM 600 SP11. MS SQL 2008SP4 database, Win 2008 R2 server

You may wonder how the target system was built as the combination is not supported by SAP. We did a in place upgrade of DB and OS. It worked and the system is running fine without any issues.

Now before we upgrade the CRM in the target system, we wanted to refresh it with latest data. Hence we restored the DB from the source to the target. ABAP system did come as expected.

We are not able to import the CI export that we took from source system, because as mentioned earlier the combination of OS/DB and NW release is not supported. I get a message. It shown below.

I am sure we wont be following this in any of the BAU systems. Its just we want to finish this POC. Is there any possiblity to skip this message and complete the import?

Thanks,

Bharath

Hello,

This is not supported. But you can achieve that by changing keydb.xml/control.xml file.

Thanks,

Hello Sunny,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I do know that we can edit it. I have tried doing that as well. I tried to edit the Control.xml file to allow the import to run on MSSQL 2008 DB. But this doesn't seem to be the issue.

Guess we should try editing the keydb file and I am not sure which place I should edit as it does not say error or warning anywhere in the file. Any ideas please?

Thanks,

Bharath

Hi Basis,

Please look for database specific xml file in the installation DVD and installation log files.

For oracle it was oradbparam.xml. for MSSQL you may locate similar xml file.

You need to update the version this file and restart the installation.

Hope this helps.

Hello Deepak,

I tried looking for the file but could not find it. Any idea what that might be?

Hi Team,

I guess you may need to use MSSQL 2008 R2 instead of MSSQL 2008 SP4.

Hi Deepak,

Sorry. I did not get that. I hope you are talking about the DB. The problem is this is a MCOD server and there are other DB's running. I cannot change the DB version

Thanks,

Hi,

Check below link.

http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-administrator/blog/2013/03/07/sapadmin-modification-of-keydbx...

You may wonder how the target system was built as the combination is not supported by SAP. We did a in place upgrade of DB and OS. It worked and the system is running fine without any issues.

You can run your system with any of combination, even if it is unsupported. It is always a customer risk and SAP doesn't support such unsupported combinations.

Hi Nick,

Thank you. This was very helpful and I tried my hand but still could not resolve it. Raised a SAP message and they have advised me to use SWPM. Trying it. Will let you guys know when I resolve it.
