Passing parameter between two reports..

Just wanted to confirm. while passing parameter between two reports. we use prompt in the second report to get details for that parameter value. Does it mean the second report refreshes for that corresponding parameter value for each time we click on hyperlink in first report? If so what is the use of refresh option Y/N in hyperlink?
