DP Master Data for CVC

Hello Experts,

We are implementing APO DP from begenning and i would like to know that how does the Master Data CVC gets created in APO, and does the master data history has to come from ECC via CIF or do i have to create a CVC combinations based on the sales history that comes from ECC to APO BW cube, i am little confused on how CVC gets generated. I already have all the Characteristics created in APO BW all i need to know how will i generate the master data CVC when setting up the system for first time.

Hello Ganesh

As per scenario you have explained, you will need Sales History data in your APO BW Infocube.  Once Sales History data is available in APO-BW, then you can create CVCs based on it. These CVCs will be created in Master Planning Object Structure(MPOS) to use in APO-Demand Planning.

To create CVCs,  please use transaction /SAPAPO/MC62, Specify Target MPOS name and Use Option "Generate Immediately", Select Load data from InfoProvider and Specify Infocube Name, Date Range etc.

Just to reconfirm, You do NOT need to transfer data using CIF for creating CVCs.

I suggest, Please refer below SAP Help link and also try to see if you have any experienced DP consultant who can assist you with this implementation project.

This is the answer i wanted to know. But in MC62 when you generate CVC's from Infoprovide, we have to know in which level the CVC will be generated?

I dont have any experinced resource in APO DP, i am the only person in APO DP for configuration, I do know how DP works cause i have few years experiance but not full implementaion.

Good luck with your efforts...CVCs will be generated at the most detailed level with MC62. Why I asked whether you have anybody to guide you is CVC generation is one of the very first steps in a DP implementation and there is a lot more to be done down the line. Just wanted to know how well you are prepared for that. The SCn network can help to a great extent but will still need a huge effort from your side too.

Hello Ganesh

CVCs gets created at most detailed level. Every characteristic needs to have some value in it. You cannot create CVCs with BLANK value for any of characteristic.

Hence in order to create CVCs based on data in Infocube - You need to have all the characteristics as part of Infocube design/structure,  and each of these characteristic should have data value in it, then only CVCs will get created.

Basically every characteristics which is part your MPOS should get filled in from Infocube data so as to create the CVCs.

On the other hand, Navigation Attributes gets filled in based on values updated in the main characteristic infoobject. You need not to worry about them while creating CVCs.

As mentioned earlier, CVCs will be generated at lowest level ( in other words - at most detailed level).

What is the lowest level?  - Let us say you have below 5 Characteristics in your MPOS.

So detailed or lowest level will be when you have value in each of the 5 characteristics.

These are 5 characteristics :

Material, Product Family, Customer, Plant, Sales Organization.

CVC will be as below:

LCD-42Inch TV +  TV + BestBuy + NewJersey Plant + US01

Below is not the CVC as it is not at the detailed level.

LCD-42Inch TV +  BestBuy + NewJersey Plant

Nice example, yes i am aware of the detail level that history has to be loaded on most detail level. Satish regarding the forecasts i will need a better understanding seens i dont have that many years of experiance in order to work with forecasting techniques, but if you do have any great documents on DP i would love to have it. please email me.

Ganesh,

As for forecasting it is a way different animal. Don't commit on being responsible for the results of forecasting. You take it to a place from where forecasting can be executed and let an expert is statistiacl forecasting take over from there.

Do you have ant experienced DP guy guiding you or are you startung on yor own? You say 'all I need to know  how will I generate master data CVC'. After you generate CVCs what steps are you planning?

i am the only person in my team that knows somewhat of APO DP and rest are stil training. So thats why i wanted to get a better picture on how the CVC for master data gets generated, i was pretty sure that CVC will be generated from the sales history in APO BW, but i wanted to comfirm it with you guys. This is my first implementation project so i wanted to prepared.
