Daily rule for inspection lot characteristics

Hi QM consultants,

I need your help for solving this problem. I have created inspection plans where dynamics modification is at characteristic level , so every characteristic has a specific modification rule. For some characteristics I need a rule for  daily control, only the first inspection lot of the day must start in control, in the others inspection lots of the day must be skip. I have created a rule with Reset period 1 day and two stages, the first is marked as Initial Inspection stage and the second has maximum duration skip 1 day. This rule run, but go KO if i take usage decision. For example, today is 22.01.2014, and reset date in quality level is 22.01.2014, if I take an Usage Decision first of creating an inspection lot,  reset date change to 23.01.2014 and so the characteristic begin skip for all day long. I ask if is possibile not change reset date with usage decision or if is possibile create an inspection rule wich is daily and run always also with usage decision. I hope it is all clear and wait your help.

Best Regards,

Massimo Fabbrini

Please review this thread and the responses I provided at the bottom of the thread under an old ID I had here.  HC.   Once you've looked at that, let me know if you have questions.  I clearly need to write up a document on this process.

Hi Craig,

i have read the thread, it seem that if i take UD reset date change. It is so? It is not possible take UD  without changing reset date ?  In this case i can't create e daily rule using reset date if I take UD.

You should be able to set maximum skip duration to 1.  (that's days).  In order for you to get back to the initial stage, you actually need to create two skip lot levels in a row.  I know it sounds strange but that's what you have to do.

10 = 1 inspection

20 = 999 skips, max skip duration 1.  On fail goto 10.

30 = 10 skips (the number here doesn't matter)

Once it gets to skip level 20, it should try to move to the next stage, (i.e. 30) the next day.  But the system is setup that if the next stage is also a skip, it takes the fail branch of step 20 and goes back to 10.

I believe you'll also have to look at using change quality level at lot creation and not at UD.

This is because, with QL change at UD, on the second day, the QL won't see the max skip duration is exceeded until you make the UD on the first lot.  Thus your first lot of the day would still be a skip lot.  Your second lot should be required.

Hello Craig,

i have created new rule 1DY using those settings:

Dynamic modification at lot creation and no reset period

Level 10

Inspection severity   4

Initial step marked

No. of inspections    1

New step              20

Max skip duration   0

Rejections             1

New step for rejection   10

Level 20

Skip lot marked

No of inspections  999

New step             10

Max skip duration 1

Rejections            1

New step for rejection 10

Level 30

Skip lot marked

No of inspections  10

New step              10

Max skip duration   0

Rejections             1

New step for rejection 10.

This rule not run daily, i have created inspection lot on 27/01/2014 and the control is started, but i have created new lot on 28/01/2014 and the characteristic is skip, Dynamic level remain 20, Tomorrow surely the level will return to 10 and control will start again. So it seems that control starts every two days and not every day. Can you tell me if some parameter of rule is wrong and how i must change for having daily control?

I wait your important opinion, i don't know what to do

Best regards,

Massimo

To read about this procedure, go into the stage change screen, put your cursor in the field Max. skip duration and press the F1 help.  This will describe what I am talking about.  At the bottom of the help file are two examples.  You pretty much want option/example 2.  The example sets this up for a 30 day reset period.  You want a 1 day period.

In particular, read the last sentence of the paragraph titled "Update of the quality level".

What happens if you make the max duration "0"?

What you had, I believe should have worked.  I'll see if I can test it myself sometime soon.
