Fixing KF in APO DP

Hello Experts.

In SCM 7.02 , For Planning area change under Administration of DP and SNP,
under KF details,  there is a coloumn that has the setting for Key figure Type - the options are "Simple Key figure" / "Fixable Key figure"

I thought this is the new way to configure the fixing functionality, but merely selecting this "Fixable Key figure" in Planning area change, found that fixing does not work by just doing this.

Looks like we still have to perform the Configuration in APO BI where we assign a Fixing KF which stores the Fixed values to the main KF which we want . Question is, is this still the way how we enable fixing functionality in newer versions of SCM where you can see an option to classify KF Type as Simple or Fixable KF in Planning area KF settings ?

Appreciate any response.

Thanks
Tej

Hello Tej,

I have used the logic that whenever key figure will be adjusted by the planners in the planning book, I use the option of Fixable Key Figure and for all other key figures I use the option of Simple Key Figure.

Please refer below link.

Fixing Key Figure Values - Creation of the Demand Forecast - SAP Library

As per my understanding, it should work without specifying "Fixed key figure" in Infoobject in APO BI.

Hope this will help.

Thank you

Hi Satish,

Thanks for your response. Strange, Did you actually test this in system or based on the SAP

documentation . Because, I have tested the config for Fixing using both methods:

- Using the Planning area admin settings - where i selected Fixable KF, and did not do anything in the APO BI. But this did not provide any fixing ability in the planning book for that KF.

- Using APO BI : when i did the required set up in APO BI - assinging one KF to a KF that needs to be fixed. This provided the fixing capability. So iam confused How you were able to fix without doing any config in APO BI.

But then, if APO BI option is true, what is the purpose of APO Planning area config.

Yes, I just did a quick test.(FYI - I am in SCM 7.0)

1.  Key figure Infoobject do NOT have  "Fixed key figure"

2.  Above Key figure in Planning Area has type "Fixable Key Figure"

3.  In Planning Book,  Entered the number in above key figure. Right Click on it,  Selected "Fix Cell(s)" option. Lock Icon appeared next to the cell where number was entered.

It should work in your case as well. Please check

I believe Key figure you want to fix, must have a calculation type that allows for disaggregation.

No calculation and average calculation is not allowed.

Please check.

You might like to confirm if the key figure you want to fix is of Type APO or Type BW ?.

I don't know version specific business but I defined such in 7.0 and I was able to use fixing. I do recall I also selected the fixable key figure in planning area for KFs that I created a type APO.

Thanks

Thanks for your response, When you say you defined such in 7.0 and you were able to use fixing, are you refering to set up done in APO BI ? I just want to know if doing this set up in APO BI is still a required thing to do. In our system it did not ask if I need a APO KF to a BW keyfigure. so i did not have the option to select one .

Sorry Tej,

I do not recall doing anything special in BI but I do not really trust my memory 100%.

Let me dig out my canned documents and see.. On the road now

Thanks

Hello Tej.

We are using this fixing. Selecting the KF as " Fixable key figure " in configuration of planning area will just allow you define this KF as a Fixable. However, if you want to fix this , we have to select the cells in the planning book for that particular KF and then click on FIX CELLS. This makes the particular cells of a KF fixable.

Hi Venkata Emani,

I am familiar with how fixing should be used in interactive planning, only confusion is about - the right place to set this up / configure this fixing functionality. APO BI or APO Planning Area

Thanks
