SAPUI5 tools for eclipse - Eval version

Hello Experts,

We have installed SAP UI5 Runtime and Tools successfully. It is working fine as well.

When we downloaded the "SAPUI5 tools for eclipse" it was listed as "Evaluation version". What is the drawback of such evaluation version of Eclipse tools (plugins)? Can we use them as it is? What shall we do to get the licensed version of those plugins??

Please help... Of course, it will be rewarded with points!! :-)

Regards,

Mandar Kulkarni.

    Hi Mandar Kulkarni,

When we downloaded the "SAPUI5 tools for eclipse" it was listed as "Evaluation version".

    - Well now its open ui5 so its free you can upgrade if you want.

What is the drawback of such evaluation version of Eclipse tools (plugins)? Can we use them as it is?

    - There is no such drawback only that you will be missing the new updates and feature. You can offcourse use it as it is if you still wish so.

What shall we do to get the licensed version of those plugins??

    - Its all free now please check this link - SAP development tools packages for Eclipse.

IMHO you should upgrade with new version it more mature stable and feature rich now.

P.S: If you wish to deploy your ui5 application in Netweaver server you can configure it as per this link - Deploying SAPUI5 Application from eclipse

    Regards

SAPUI5 includes deployment tools for a JAVA application server and includes the charting library.

OpenUI5 comes with JavaScript and CSS files only, so there are no JAVA files, no WEB-INF files and no charting library. Additionally, OpenUI5 doesn't have an Eclipse plugin.

Just read the title as "SAPUI5 tools for eclipse - Evil version" and had to laugh, sorry for that.

    Now to your question:

the evaluation version is like the name says: an evaluation version.

If you want to install the licensed version (with full maintenance), just go to the SAP Software Download Center and search for "ABAP Eclipse".

    Hi Jeetendra and Tob,

    Thanks for your reply.

One more question, when we submit SAPUI5 project to SAPUI5 repository, it lists in "SICF" (services) from where we can test/ access the application.... But such URL is too much long as it has path like <server name><port>sap\public\opu..... It is difficult to remember as well. Can you suggest any way to shorten this final project URL???

    Regards,

    Mandar Kulkarni.
