ESS/MSS on Oracle Portal

Hi Folks,

We are starting an implementation where the customer will use his current Oracle Portal instead of SAP Portal to publish ESS/MSS services. They have ERP 6.0 - EHP6.

For me the Oracle Portal consultant will have to configure SSO with SAP ERP and I will have to pass ESS/MSS URLs to him to publish these services.

Do you see any problem going through this scenario?

Thanks in advance.

Bruno

i was involved in a similar project where a big customer wanted to use oracle portal,

Yes integration should work well, but typically we have seen more customers using sharepoint and other portals instead of oracle, our client later switch to SAP EP, they didnt implement oracle, as it requires some work

Hi Siddharth,

Could you please, clarify for me what are the points that require some work?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Well its passing of the URL OF PCD ie Portal content Urls to the third party, I haven't done on oracle, but it should be similar to sharepoint.

You can check in netweaver development forum as well for this

But do you think is also necessary to install SAP Portal?

How would work MSS services that are invoked via OBN, i.e compensation and talent profile?

Thanks.

Hi Siddharth,

Can we not configure a link to NWBC based ESS in Oracle portal?

The main point of developing NWBC was to having portal agnostic roles. Right?

Regards.

yes we can, then if we use NWBC, why we need oracle portal then, if they have a single oracle portal then it makes sense to have a NWBC embedded in it.

Its not necessary to install SAP EP, you can avoid licensing cost by using NWBC.

Please follow the note 1738027 to integrate portal content yes OBN would be the same.

Hi Sahir and Siddharth,

Now the things start getting clearer to me. Probably we will go through NWBC.

A last question. I have searched about customizing NWBC layout and I read that NWBC doesn´t have all layout options comparing with SAP Portal.

Is that true? What should I worry about customizing NWBC layout? May I use UI Theme designer on NWBC?

Thanks.
