Different material tax classification for same material when we have only one sales org

Hello Experts,

I need to configure output taxes (VAT,CST,Service tax etc) for one of my Indian client (trading business).

Customer wants to have only one sales org for India. they have different types of materials to be sold through various sales offices spread across various states.

Problem: I tried to segment all the materials in 8 different material tax classification based on material nature (eg.hand tools, consumables etc.)

but each material falls under different material tax classification for different state.Eg. A material falling under hand tools material tax classification in Maharashtra, may fall into consumables tax classification in Gujrat.

Though we have different plants in different states but i cant manage to have different material tax classification for different plant for a single material as i have only one sales org.

Could you pls suggest me how do i tackle this issue??

Thanks in advance...

Hello,

add a condition table in the access sequence of the tax condition. Use the same material classification, for the same material in different states, but through the condition record, you will be able to determine the right tax percentage, and the right tax code.

Hope to be useful.

Best regards,

Andrea

Hello Andrea,

thanks for your reply..

I have already maintained a condition table with key combination- country/plant region/customer region/customer tax clss/material tax class.

my problem is, how to maintain different material tax classifications for the same material without having more than 1 sales org..

Please suggest..

Hello,

I understand, but since the Tax classification is used to drive tax percentage and tax code, if you maintain correctly condition records, you should achieve your purpose.

Consider also that the tax classification of the material doesn't depend from the Sales Organization, but only from material and country (check for this the entries in table MLAN).

You should explain in more detail your final aim: if you need to mark each material with a tax classification at country and state sublevel, it can't be achieved, since it would mean to have  a table containing the tax relevant material master records at "state" level, and this is not available in SAP standard configuration.

Hope to be useful.

Best regards,

Andrea
