SAP Business One 9.0 Upgrade

Former Member

Hello all,

We have just upgraded to SAP Business One 9.0 (9.00.057) PL5 and we have run into a strange issue. The symptoms are as follows:

- When you first open SAP you have to enter the Landscape Server name or address, to which the server name won't work so you have to put in the IP address!

- When you put in the IP address it works fine for some users but some others (including some admins) won't find any databases (companies) in the list!

- Some other issues happen to logged in users like add-Ons not loading or crashing, etc.

Did anyone run into this issue before and found a solution to it?

Thank a lot guys.

Just letting everyone know that SAP have come back to us with a solution that worked.

We just had to open ports 30000-30010 on the firewall.

Thanks a lot everyone for your contributions.

Thanks a lot everyone.

We did log a support ticket with SAP and we're just waiting for a reply. I was just checking to see if anyone else has run into this issue before and how they fixed it.

It just seems like a quick fix since it's working for most users but we'll see.

According to the note Nagarajan posted our previous version should be supported by SAP 9.0 PL05.

Am I right in interpreting it this way?

Hi,

Your interpretation is correct.

Please check with SAP support.

Thanks & Regards,

I had to check a previous post I made on here for the previous version, which says 8.81 (8.81.316) PL: 08 HOTFIX1.

I'm almost certain there were no upgrades since then but is there any other more reliable way of finding out?

That is good enough. However, it might be problem if you had bypassed 8.82 version.

Have you checked if your version were supported before you upgrade?

What is your old version/PL before upgrade?

Thanks,

Thank you guys for the replies. Unfortunately none of these solutions fixed the issue so I thought perhaps I could add a little bit of insight into it.

We are on Windows Server 2008 R2. We initially created a copy of the working server and tested the upgrade on it. It worked fine. We then went ahead and upgraded SAP on the actual working server and it also worked (for the Windows users that were tested).

The next day users reported that they weren't able to log in to SAP because they had to enter the IP address or server name. The server name wasn't working so we tried the IP address and it worked. this time however, while most users could log in normally, some wouldn't find any databases to select!

As a temporary solution we allowed multiple term server sessions per user and had people share the same working user profile to access different their individual SAP.

Since then we have been trying different solutions to no avail.

Also for a bit more insight, Active Directory security groups were also checked to see if there was anything that made sense there but nothing seems to point to any particular difference between the users that are working and those that aren't.

If anyone can help with is it would much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi JB..

  • Exit SAP Business One.
  • Navigate to the SAP Business One configuration folder (by default, it is located under "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One\Conf").
  • Back up and delete "b1-current-user.xml" and "b1-local-machine.xml".
  • Copy "b1-current-user-template.xml" and paste it in the same folder with the following new name: "b1-current-user.xml".
  • Copy "b1-local-machine-template.xml" and paste it in the same folder with the following new name: "b1-local-machine.xml".
  • Log on to SAP Business One twice to check if the issue is resolved. Ensure that you exit SAP Business One by choosing File → Exit.
  • If the issue persists, navigate to the SAP Business One profile folder, which should be recorded in "b1-config-path.txt" as "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\SAP\SAP Business One".
  • Back up and delete the profile folder "SAP Business One".
  • Log on to SAP Business One twice (you should be able to successfully log on after completing these steps).

Hope helpful

Regards

Kennedy

Hi,

The issue no. 1 may be affected by sap note 868000 - License server address requested during each log on

or can also be affected by this sap note 1901239 - Client loses entry for the license server and requests IP address or server name

The issue no. 2 may be affected by sap note 1882731 - Cannot Display Company List After Database User Password Is Changed

Have you had s user id to access the sap note ? if not, you may contact local product expert or sap partner local in your country

Rgds,

Jimmy
