"No Instance Found" in SolMan7.1 SP10 Unified Job Monitoring

Hi,

We've recently upgraded our SolMan 7.1 system to SP10 and I'm struggling to get the Unified Job Monitoring to work.

I've been through the wizard (SOLMAN_SETUP -> Technical Monitoring -> Job & BI Monitoring) several times, and set-up monitoring for a few different systems / scenarios. I can successfully pull in a list of jobs from the client system when choosing what jobs to monitor, so that seems to be a positive sign.

Everything looks good in the set-up but no alerts /emails ever get generated. When I launch the html monitor page via Technical Monitoring Work Center -> Job and BI Monitoring and choose one of the systems I just see "No Instance Found".

The System Preparation and Basic Configuration is complete for SolMan, as is the "Managed System Configuration" and "System Monitoring Configuration" for the systems I'm trying to monitor. We have the most recent version of the Central Correction Note.

Can anyone suggest what I may have missed?

Richard

Hi Every one,

I faced the similar issue while configuring unified job monitoring. We approached SAP and were told to apply SNOTE

"1866169 - Corrections unified job monitoring ST-PI 2008_1_xxx SP9"

This fixed our issue now the instance details are populating in monitoring screen.

Phaneendra.

SAP Note 1909902 - Job Mon: Prerequisities for SP10

is updated with new known corrections. Also is a report program to 'mass activate and deactivate'.

After applying the notes, update the latest MAI SP10 content. Create new Monitored Object and check for data.

Hi Roland,

Thanks very much for your reply. I've now tried that note, but unfortunately my problem persists.

Hi Richard,

Then I would go through the following SAP Note 1909902 - Job Mon: Prerequisities for SP10
to see if this helps.

Kind regards,

Roland

Thanks Roland,

I had looked at that, but have had another look and implemented another of the referenced notes just in case. Unfortunately it's still not working.

For reference, here's what I've looked at / implemented so far:

Implemented

1866169 Corrections unified job monitoring ST-PI 2008_1_xxx SP9

1927294 SP10: JOBMON: Translation related issues

1959516 SP10 - Not Started on Time - Adjustments

1959556 Mon object status incorrect across BPMON and Job Monitoring

1959572 SP10 - Job Monitoring UI - Not Started on Time - Rating is n

1959599 SP10 - No Instances displayed after "Apply" filter

1909902 Job Mon: Prerequisities for SP10     (implemented various manual steps / other notes listed)

Considered but not implemented

1581417 - BW Process Chain specific

1706837 - BW Process Chain specific

1870459 - BW / HANA specific

Richard - I have upgraded the Solman to SP10 and implemented Unified Job monitoring. It worked fine when I tested couple of jobs. But when I activated for most of the jobs, I am having same issue as "No instnace Found". Even the couple of jobs tested before also having sam e issue now. I did observe this issue while testing, but when I came back to Configuration and activated again, all seems worked fine. Now no luck for all jobs. I have implemented all notes mentioned above too. I have couple of jobs in Sandbox and they are working fine, even I get email for failed jobs.

let me know if you have a solution

Thanks,

Srini.

Dear Forum members,

Do some preliminary checks.

1. Have you configured using the SOLMAN_SETUp Technical monitoring

If yes, go to SE16 : ACJOBMON_STORE, find the CONTEXT_ID of the job you configured.

2. Go to SE 16: MES_DB_AGGREGATE. Paste this context_ID and check if you have any entries in this table. If not, the collector is not yet pumping data back to SOLMAN.

If yes, then we have a bug in the monitoring UI of JOB MON. Let me know.

3. If there are no entries in MES_DB_AGGREGATE table, please check in the SOLMAN ADMIN

append this uRL :

webdynpro/sap/ags_workcenter?WORKCENTER=AGS_WORK_SM_ADMIN&sap-language=EN

Infrastructure

Framework -> alerting framework

Filter for the managed system SID , extended context is " ST_PI_CLNT*"

Ideally expect 3 collectors. 5 mins, 15 mins, 60 minutes.

can you check the statsu of these PULL collectors.

Hello Raghav,

thanks for your reply. I have no data in table MES_DB_AGGREGATE for the specific MON_ID.

In the alerting framework i can see that the DPC PULL CORE have status Warning=No data received.

In the extractor log i can see something like:

"Metric XXX . Status: Data Provider /SDF/E2E_BPMON_DATA_PROVIDER: for monitoring-object XXX no parameters..." the message ends here.

Thing is that i cannot save any alert configuration in the workenter for the job and bi monitoring.

Any idea?

Hello Philipp,

When did you update the MAI content? Please take the latest form the post box. Create new Monitoring Object for the ABAP job. Let me know.

Also the ST_PI collector has a note 1866169. Is the manual activtity done itn he managed system after this note?

After working with SAP on a message regarding this issue, I have updated the content and implemented the note 1866169 in both Solution Mnager and managed systems. That did resolve the problem and I got the status and instance details in Job monitoring UI.

But after couple of days into configuring more than 100 jobs for monitoring in ECC system, not getting status for all jobs again. I checked the alert frame work, and it has warning saying "No Data received" for ST_PI_CLNT**.

Monitoring is still working fine for other systems where I have around 30 jobs

Thanks,

Srini.

Hello Srini,

This is verly likely owing to the non-performance of the collector that does not complete the data fetch in the stipulated time.

Can you confirm the collection works and mon ui brightens up with data when there are lesser number of MOS configured in the managed system?

Regards, Raghav

Raghav - Yes we have less than 20 jobs in Dev and Quality ECC systems, there monitoring is working fine. We are having this issue only in Production where we have more than 100 jobs. I have deactivated and activated all jobs, after that everything worked fine 2 days and again we started having same issue, some jobs gets status correctly, some of them are not yet all getting.

Thanks,

Srini.

Hello Srini,

Can you open a OSS ticket to SAP in sv-smg-mon-jbi-job. I would require to login to the systems (both SOLMAN and MAnaged system) to check where the data collection is failing.

Hi Raghav,

thanks for your help. I also had contact with SAP Support and they could fix the problem.

SAP Support found some orphan monitoring objects but they didn't told me how they found them.

Right now i having the same failure (could not save/generate/activate alerting metrics for monitoring objects) in another monitoring scenario, i have tried to deactivate all objects an deleted the szenario but that didn't help. Everytime i try to create a scenario and put in some jobs i cannot save specific metrics for the alerting.

I think it's because i have again ghost monitoring objects in my system. Do you know how to find these orphan monitoring objects without a monitoring szenario? There must be some kind of report.

Thank you.

Hello Philipp ,

A report exist AC_JOBMON_CLEANUP. Please excute this in SE38. This would remove any "incocnsitent" objects from  the table AC_JOBMONSTORE. It would excute in some seconds and produce no OUTPUT.

After executing the report, please update the CONTENT in SOLMAN_SETUP (if new version exist).

and then begin configuring scenarios.

Should this recur, i would like to take a look at your system.

Hi Raghav,

Thanks for the info. I had previously been advised to run report ACR_DELETE_ENTRY_POINTS  (monitoring use case=JOB_MON, context type=Job), having got context IDs from table ACCONTEXTDIR for monitored jobs that handn't been removed properly in the gui. This seemed to clear out some inconsistencies

Is AC_JOBMON_CLEANUP related to this?

Regards,

Richard (sorry for my long absence from thread - been on holiday then snowed under by different project!)

Hello Richard,

ACJOBMONSTORE could have CONTEXTIDs that do not exist in ACCONTEXTDIR. AC_JOBMON_CLEANUP removes these entries from AC_JOBMON_STORE.

ACCONTEXTDIR is the single source of truth for valid CONTEXT_IDs.

You are correct, ACR_DELETE_ENTRY_POINTS  deletes the  set of CONTEXT_ID from ACCONTEXTDIR.  (monitoring use case=JOB_MON, context type=Job

Removes the context from MAI. You should also run AC_JOBMON_CLEANUP after ACR_DELETE_ENTRY_POINTS, in SP10

Hello Philipp,

I work in the SAP labs in the development department.

Can you open a message to SAP in the component sv-smg-mon-jbi-job?

Then it is possible to provide system access.

Else, we can do a SAPCONNECT meeting where you could share your screen (without giving me access) and at least we can take a look at this together.

Hi Richard,

Can you see if SAP Note 1959599 - SP10 - No Instances displayed after "Apply" filter helps here?

Kind regards,
