Custom MRP Element

Former Member

Hello all,

I wanna ask to all the PP Expert here

There is a custom MRP Element in my SAP R3 system. This is a setting that I never known before. The setting must be done by my ex colleague here. I'm asked by my manager to check, where the setting was done, and write a document of it. You can view the custom MRP element in my image below.

So, PP Expert, where can I find the setting for that custom MRP Element?

Thank you all!!!

Hi,

It is not possible by customization. I suspect domain DELKZ was changed in SE11 and the new entry was added in the value range of the domain. This is a repair.

At the first, I also suspected that content of the table (T457T) was edited by SE16N, but I found that I can't create new entry like that via SE16N. I can't just create the new MRP Element from that tcode.

Can you explain me about "repair" that you said?

Thank you.

Hello Mr. Canan.

After I reread your comment, I finally find the way to add the custom MRP element. As you said, that the value was added from SE11, add value range of DELKZ. That's really helpfull.

Now, we go to the second "mystery" of my SAP R3 system. Originally, SAP system will create MRP element "LA" (ShpgNt / Shipping Notification) when an Order Acknowledgment (in ME23N) was created.

However, my SAP R3 system automatically assign Order Acknowledgment into that custom MRP element "99". Do you have any clue, where will I find the EXIT / BADI for that matter?

Thank you a lot.

Nicko,

You are talking to the wrong people.  What you need is a competent ABAPer performing his research on YOUR system.  Anything we could tell you would only be speculation.

Hello, Mr DB49. Thank you for your reply.

Yeah I know that all I can get here is just speculation. However any kind of help / speculation / suggestion will do favor for me Currently, we couldn't get any help from consultant / ABAPer yet.

By the way, this case is similar with this thread. You have answered it before, but I still don't get it.

Thank you

Nicko,

Currently, we couldn't get any help from consultant / ABAPer yet.

Then the best first step is to examine any existing documentation.  Most companies worldwide nowadays that are 'auditable' maintain a systematic process to implement modifications to their system; some type of formalized 'change management' system.  In the US anyway, publicly traded companies are covered by Sarbanes-Oxley laws, which require certain formalities to change productive ECC systems. Other countries have similar laws.  Many companies respond to these legal requirements by having their business users and IT teams produce documentation packages to support such changes, that are in some way linked to the transport requests, so as to have some kind of audit trail to show to the auditors.

If you have exhausted this avenue, and that for whatever reason, your search results are  inadequate, then you have to do the same types of things that an ABAPer would have to do:  Search the code.

One way to start: go into MD04 in your dev system; Enter Debug mode.  Display a material that you know has this element.  Step through the program until you see if/when the "99" is displayed/invoked.  Examine the code.  If you are lucky, the information you find there will lead you to infer if there are any other programs areas that should be examined.  Perform the same debug steps in these other programs.  Continue until you have a good idea of what the original developer did.  Write your documentation based on what you find.

By the way, this case is similar with this thread. You have answered it before, but I still don't get it.

???  I don't know what's to 'get'.  All I was saying was that if you want a new MRP element, you will probably have to modify (enhance) your system in some way.  Last time I looked, SAP didn't offer standard configuration to create new ones.  You would therefore have to consider what programs will be used to create the new element, you have to consider what programs will be used to display the element, you have to consider what programs will be used to alter standard functionality for this new element once you have it in your system.  Any or all of these programs may require enhancements.

Best Regards & Good Luck,

Dear DB49.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried searching and debugging my MD04 system, and any fields' related to it and still find nothing. Our team have discovered the way to create and display the new element. However, we don't discover the part of standard functionality alteration.

Phewww... Yeah it's so difficult without a proper documentation about our system. Now I guess there's another way but ask for our SAP consultant.

Thank you all, thank you very much

Best regards, Nicko

Hi Nicko,

Could you find a solution for this requirement. I need to implement a custom MRP element in my project and need some guideline as to how I can proceed with it.

Like you mentioned I could add value range in DELKZ, but I am unable to find a point where this entry can be added in table T457T (tcode OMD5).

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Swapnil
