Question about Eclipse and 7.2

Former Member

I went to Tech Ed in Vegas this year and I love everything I saw about using Eclipse. Now that I'm back home though, I find that we are only on 7.2 and there are no plans to upgrade this year. I know that Eclipse functionality is not brand new and my understanding is that some level of functionality was supported in previous versions of ABAP. Can anybody direct me to any information or otherwise tell me what features we could still use with Eclipes in ABAP 7.2?

Hi Erik,

Have a look at this blog and see whether your NW version is compatible with ADT?

This is easily the best place to find info on it.

If you find you can't use it, but still want to try it out.  Try and get access to a developer edition of NW. There are two out there which support ADT.

This one you can install locally

SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.03 64-bit Trial

Or you can setup up the 7.4 cloud version, but there is an ongoing fee with the cloud provider, that generally varies on cost based on your usage and configuration.  But you do get access to HANA with this also

Hope that helps you out.

Cheers,

Katan
