Drop-Down Filter Bar Extremely Slow

Former Member

We are attempting to upgrade from R3 to R4.1.  On our 4.1 servers, WebI reports that have merged dimensions and use those dimensions in drop-down filters (or drill filters) are extremely slow to load.  Specifically, the drop-down filters themselves are slow to appear on the report, and the report content loads slowly while waiting on the filters to resolve.  Reports that load in the browser in seconds in R3 might take anywhere from 1 minute to 20 minutes in R4.  Has anyone else seen (or resolved) this behavior in R4?

We were having other issues too (WIPS crashing), but upgrading to 4.1 SP2 Patch 2 also resolved the slow filter bars for us.

Thanks Brian, I'll try upgrading to that patch level.

We've just discovered very similar. Appearance and use is very slow. I have found a work around of sorts. Remove the filters from the bar and then add filters again as an Input control (option off Add Filter button). These seem to work a lot faster in use than regular filters. Please keep this up to date with any feedback you get from SAP.

Yes, we are on 4.1 SP1 Patch 2 and the filter bars on some reports load very slowly, sometimes 20 seconds after the rest of the report has refreshed.

We have noticed a significant performance difference between 3.1 and 4.1 as well, despite tripling server resources (RAM and CPU). And that's with only one concurrent user in 4.1 vs. up to 30 in 3.1. We have an open ticket with SAP as well.

Yes, we've gone through that.  This is not a resources issue.  In fact, it looks like a software issue.  SAP is working with us on this, but I was curious if any other customers had experienced it or found ways to reduce the impact.
