Scheduling Failed

Former Member

Hi all,

I have a issue about crystal report scheduling (not sure it coming from the platform or crystal report).

I schedule a crystal report and wait for an hour. After a few hours, the failed status appear.

Error message: Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server.

I have been tried restart the SIA server and the result remain same.

Besides that, I also try to check the data source (ODBC) and reconfigure the data location with the report, but still failed.

Here is the server that run the BI 4

VMWare Virtual Platform

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit

BI Platform: BI 4 SP7

Database: Ms SQL 2008

RAM: 16 GB

Hard Disk: 250 GB

Anyone has the solution or the idea to solve this problem.

Regards,

Thank You.

When you schedule, what destination and Format did you schedule it to?

Are you scheduling it to email? or file system?

1. I schedule on now (because now I doing schedule verification)

2. Destination is Default Enterprise Location (I have try BI Inbox, still face the same issue)

3. Schedule format is Crystal Report

you have mentioned that report is hanging designer as well, so it seems that there has some change occurred in the query or else amount of data being retrieved. You would see that designer would be consuming huge memory in task manager

Fire the SQL query to your database and observe how much time would it take to execute. This is just to identify whether the prblem is with the query or else the records being pulled.

In addition to this as the issue is observed with only 2 reports can you recreate the report and observe the behavior.

I have try to fire the SQL query and actually the report will run based on the stored procedure where the report will load the temp table that generate from stored procedure (the prompt also included in stored procedure).

So far, the stored procedure was work without any error.

I also try to create a new report that connect the same stored procedure, the crystal report designer start to hang after select the stored procedure and enter the prompt. The memory that crystal report designer just only consume between 34,000 k and 80,000 k (I have been try a few times to connect the stored procedure).

*The other crystal reports (success to schedule) also connect with the stored procedure.

There is a solution for XI3.1 that might work for BI4.

  1. Login to CMC(Central Management Console)
  2. Select Server and go for CrystalReportsJob Server.
  3. Right click on this server to view the Server’s properties’ page.
  4. Add the switch -procreportoptions __noverifydatabase in the Command Line Parameter’s field.
  5. Restart the  CrystalReportsJob Server.

Can you please specify the time duration it took to retrieve the records and number of records retrieved.

It takes around 1 hour for reading records.

Number of records retrieve is 7,005,443

Issue is with how the query has been made, you would need to optimize the query to be executed.

It should be optimize where the stored procedure:

1. create the prompt

2. take 3 years data based on the prompt (requirement for the report)

3. create temp tables (7 tables)

4. retrieve the required data from temp tables

Hi Yew Han,

  • How long does this report take to run in Crystal Reports designer?
  • Does this issue happen to all reports or this specific report?
  • On the Job Server machine, in the Task Manager, check for SPLWOW64.EXE.  If there is one in memory,  try killing the process and reschedule the report.

However based on the current information provided,  there's still a lot of information that needs to be gathered.

Lets narrow down this to an issue at server level.

1. Check whether the report is executed properly at CR client tools

2. Look whether the report can be refreshed appropriately.

3. Check whether this is a rights issue. Schedule the report with administrator account and not with delegated administrators.

4. Ensure that the issue is consistent for specific report.

According to your updates on above points issue can be narrowed down further.

1. I have been try to use crystal report designer.

2. It was fine in design mode, but when I refresh on the designer tool, the CR designer hang after 1 hour wait for refresh the report and require to close the program.

3. I using administrator user to schedule the report currently, but still failed.

4. It was work fine on other report, I have only 2 crystal reports facing this issue.

Hi Yew Han,

I will completely agree with Arvind Pandalai

Does these two reports use the same Connection as other reports?

Do you have huge data for these two reports?

How it is performing when you are trying to create a test report on the same Data connection?

What is the source of the reports?

Hi Wong,

Is the same report is refreshing fine from Launchpad?

Do you have any Error messages in the Adaptive Job server logs which will be helpful to narrow down the issue
