Client has status not modifiable - SCC4

Hi Experts,

Currently, the development and quality server is down. So, I am working on the production server (I know its very critical and I have taken the permission). I go to tcode nace and its not coming in editable mode and says client has status not modifiable. I checked some links and goto scc4 and changed the "No changes allowed" to "Automatic recording of changes" and it works fine.

Can I put the status to the same or should I again change it to "No changes allowed"? Please note that 3-4 days back, nace was running absolutely fine even on PRD.

Please suggest.

Regards

Mani

Hi Mani

Went through your entire question . Few things :

a) What is the issue with the DEV and QAS systems ?

As mentioned by Nabheet above , it is not recommended to make direct changes to PROD.

So please ensure to make the systems up and running .

b) Now that you have made some modification and I assume that you have kept record of the changes made , please close the client ( revert to original settings ) in SCC4.

c) As soon as your DEV and QAS system is up , make the change in DEV , generate a TR and move the TR to PROD . This will ensure consistency across your landscape.

Let us know if any queries  ..  And also why the DEV and QAS are down..

Thanks

Rishi

Hi Mani

It is not recommended to make your production client editable as it my lead to data inconsistency across dev/quality. Since you now you have made changes in Prod and dev/quality are not in sync.

Normally to keep system editable or not is a basis activity

Hi Rishi,

VPN is not working. It will take 1-2 days more. I have changed the settings to "No changed allowed" as its a crucial decision so I had to ask your suggestions.

Hi Mani,

If you open the client for this reason, Can any business user able to change the any kind of transactions! Especially be careful about FI transactions

Nothing to worry about NACE, May be a few settings are missing, so that it is not working!

Cool!

You should not make or not advisable direct changes to your production server. Please make sure that once your DEV and QA is all changes in the production must by synced with your dev and qa.
